This wait is killing me agh. I got an SGR end of April and am only done with my finals next Tuesday since I’m from a quarter system CCC -__- I’ll have to rush order my transcripts to be sent before the June 30 deadline ahhh. Kinda sucks, but I honestly just can’t wait to hear back already! I’m so nervous
@LACCryan You have to be the nicest person I have ever seen on the internet. I really hope you get in.
This was the first application I put in, and the last I’m still waiting on. Transferring sucks almost as badly as first-year admissions, but your positive energy is so great to see!
I’m agreeing with @LACCryan I love seeing people get accepted because I was where y’all were at and its the greatest feeling in the world when you get accepted. I think all of you should get accepted ! I can’t wait to hear more acceptances
@bergamott Thanks, I appreciate it! I feel your frustration and I certainly hope you get in as well. I think good things are yet to come, for all of us. I was serious about us creating a FB group so we can keep in touch as transfer students who bonded together to the end of the process. Hahah I know that sounds cheesy but I won’t have any friends if I’m accepted, so it’ll be a good way to start!
@frh777 I hand delivered my transcripts last Friday in the Office of Admission. After which I emailed my counselor (who’s been very helpful and quick to reply) and she said this…
You’ll be notified of a decision within the next couple weeks. Unfortunately I can’t provide an exact timeline.
Have a good weekend,
On Tuesday I called the Admission Office to confirm they received my unofficial transcript because I hated to see it on the portal still and the rep I spoke with said they had it. Shortly after we hung up the phone my portal updated back to it’s original message i.e. not the Spring Grade Request, and there were no items in the documents required section. I hope something comes in the mail soon!
@bigstom Congrats again! and thanks for staying on board with us. You’ll kill it there!
@“Professor X” Free ride? that’s awesome! How much is their meal plan and what exactly does it include? Thanks!
@bigstom I remember this discussion last year. Some dude claimed that his friend who works as an orientation advisor gave him the scoop. Essentially, he stated that if your GPA isn’t quite up to par? Spring admit. That doesn’t really hold true though because I recall a recent spring admit that had a 4.0 and my GPA was 3.9, so I wasn’t going to hurt their 3.7 average GPA either. Another reason he discussed was how “full” a major might be, but everybody on the forum last year agreed that it was difficult to imagine that my second-choice major (sociology) was really all that popular to a point where they had no space for the fall semester. A weird one he discussed was the age of the applicant. He claimed that if you were basically over 21 or had more than 64 units, USC felt that you could wait an extra semester as opposed to sophmores and what not. In other words? Nobody really knows, sadly
@ProfessorX5 There’s a lot of markets around campus, so it would be a perfect time to learn Although, the meal plan is probably cheaper than buying your meals on-campus. $9 salads are yikes lol
@ProfessorX5 are you considered an independent or are your parents on the low-income spectrum? really curious because the financial aid package they offer me will definitely be the deciding factor if I’m accepted
this week seems a bit quiet lol…
unless some ppl who heard back didn’t post on here lol @jacklax62 I called the admission office this past Monday and I was told that decisions are mailed first and the portals are updated three days later. But I’ve seen people find out through portal first so idk
@xerxes96 I did last year and I found it quite surprising as I only had 1 major prep course as opposed to having 5 for my first choice major.
@pomeranian4rich Yeah, in years past, I recall that people who lived further away found out on their portal first before seeing a physical letter, but people this year like to surprise me lol and defy what I’ve seen before
Hey guys!
I checked my portal today and they received my Spring Grades (I was SGR’ed a while back but couldn’t send my grades out because I go to a 4 year quarter system school). Keeping my fingers crossed for good news in the next couple of weeks!
My stats aren’t that great, LOL.
-1st year TTP. Currently attending UC Riverside.
-Major: Public Policy (second choice: political science)
-GPA: 3.2 fall, 3.0 winter, 3.7 spring (cumulative 3.3)
-Extracurriculars: Heavily involved with local law enforcement volunteer services and the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. In HS, I was in track, XC, Interact, Key Club, FBLA, Class Council, Tutor, and Youth In Government (Elected Police Chief for 2 years straight).
-2 rec letters: 1 from my college english professor & 1 from a ranking police officer/Sergeant from the police department I volunteer at.
-Essay: Really strong essay, talked a lot about my dream career of Human Trafficking Investigator for Homeland Security and breaking barriers of being an asian female minority in law enforcement services.
-Explained my lower gpa (fall & winter) due to my grandmother’s poor health. I’m the only one in my family who can speak chinese and english, so I always had to drive back from school to translate, do paperwork, etc. She was always in and out of nursing homes, intensive care unit, and emergency rooms. For those kinds of situations, they require that someone sign off on her care and be present, so I always went (it was a weekly or biweekly occurence due to heart failure and pneumonia). The times she was able to go home, I was always paranoid about her taking her medicine because she needed to take medicine 3-4 times a day and her breathing treatment 3 times a day. She passed away at the beginning of my Winter quarter. So it was a bit of a crazy ride my fall and winter quarter.
I’m just really glad I wasn’t flat out rejected like a few of my friends have.
