Just got accepted to Century housing
That’s exciting. Which all did you apply to @“Professor X”
@John6311 First choice was Cardinal and Second choice was Century. I cant quite remember but I think i also applied to Regal Trojan and Parkside as well as Troy.
This
…wait
is killing me!
Is there on campus housing available for transfer students still? I think my parents are going to let me go but they will be uneasy about off campus living. I know that it’s not guaranteed but is it likely that we can still live on campus?
@LACCryan I was just thinking if you heard back yet?
nope
Thanks for checking up!
I hand delivered my transcripts to the office of admission on June 10th, and after that my counselor emailed me saying that I should hear back 'within a couple weeks". I’m hoping to hear back soon because I can’t stop thinking about this. I’m constantly checking the portal at work.haha
How about you? @cmartin12
Hope we all hear back by the end of this week. #FightOn
@cmartin12 I called them to ask about housing but pretty much I found out that they don’t have many left for those who applied after April. I applied maybe around 04/07 and the lady I contacted said I was among the last people to have received housing
I actually got on campus housing but rejected it Bc my roommate was rejected for housing (she transferred too). I would look into off campus housing. it’s cheaper too. And not as dangerous as many might think. There’s the LAPD and DPS everywhere.
Maybe consider calling the Housing people and start reaching out to off campus housing agencies like Stuho, First Choice, and Mosaic. There’s also a FB page dedicated to USC students looking for housing.
Wow. That was very long. If this was too confusing, LMK and I’ll explain myself again or something.
Hopefully that isn’t completely true :/.
@js119999 do you know why your roommate was rejected from housing?
And @ProfessorX5 just got accepted?
called the admission office. “you should hear back within a couple of weeks” rolls eyes
Hi guys,
I saw earlier in the thread someone mentioned that your GPA could be lower if your transferring from a University compared to if you’re coming from a CC… I’m just curious as to why that is?
Also, does anyone know anything about parking? I may end up commuting from the Malibu every day and I’ve heard the parking situation is a nightmare, though I can’t imagine it’s any worse than SMC…
Also, I submitted my Spring Grades over the weekend, does it mean they haven’t received it yet if the SGR request still shows on my portal?
@journalism89 because community college classes are ridiculously easy, while university ones aren’t. They probably take into consideration that the coursework of people transferring from universities is way harder.
Admitted to Marshall for Business Administration, Pre-Accounting
!!
Not sure if it mattered, but because I ended my spring quarter so late, I decided to email my advisor a grade report of my spring grades so that they’d receive my grades earlier.
Interestingly, I found out through the portal … nothing showed up in my mailbox (I live in SoCal).
Good luck everyone!
@frh777 i would not consider cc classes to be “ridiculously easy” compared to universities. that is an exaggeration. Compared to the top schools in the country, yeah, cc classes are comparatively easy. But compared to most cal states, state schools (Alabama, i’m looking at you), and some UCs, ccc classes are very much the same.
It also depends on what classes you are talking about. The advance math classes at a ccc, Linear Algebra at SMC for example, are just as rigorous as the math classes offered at many great schools.
To sum up, yeah cc classes may be some what easier generally speaking, but to say universities classes are WAY harder is ignorant.
@johnnyUSC my friend finished with a 2.7 GPA in high school which is horrible and now goes to LACC with a 4.0
this means that it is even easier than high school which is a joke
@johnnyUSC At a cc an A is 4 points at most 4 year universities an A- is 3.7 and a B+ is 3.5 so I feel like they do give more credit to students transferring from 4 years. Currently taking an elective at a CC back home and I can not believe how ridiculously easy it is.
@truehappiness congrats on being accepted. Would you mind sharing your stats please? Who is your counselor btw?
Thank you!! My counselor is Kelsey Bradshaw – she’s super friendly and helpful.
I’m transferring from UC Riverside, SGR’ed back in April. 4.00 Fall, 3.70 Winter, 3.70 Spring.
I think I’m entering as a Sophomore, though I’m not too sure too AP credits work.
