2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

@Cindyciclta I’m coming from Smc, I decided to stay one more year because I wanted to take Linear/Algebra and my lab based science. Also to get better at my programming skills so I can better prepare for the difficult classes like CSCI 104 and etc. We should seriously keep in touch, I’d feel alot better knowing someone actually doing the CSBA curriculum, as it is totally different from the other CS majors. Good choice by the way

Just got rejected from Marshall and Price.

-3.1 GPA at Cornell (27 units; 2014-2015)
-4.0 GPA at Chaffey College in SoCal (29 units; 2015-2016)
-3.6 Cumulative GPA
-A+ in both Financial and Managerial Accounting
-All prereqs but one or two completed
-Summer Market Research Internship between freshman and sophomore year
-Started my own website and company during my sophomore year
-High school soccer captain and all-league keeper
-High school orientation leader and Freshman Seminar instructor
-Decent essay (8/10 I’d say)
-No recommendation letters

I think the problem might have been my low GPA at Cornell, and I’m also double checking with the admission office to make sure that they understand that I have both English 1A and 1B completed. I took both during the spring semester, and a woman I spoke to at the admission office was confused about me having not completed the English requirement (though I did). I may appeal, but I don’t have a lot of hope. This sucks because this is the second time I’ve applied to USC and the second time I’ve been rejected, and I was pretty confident in my grades and stats… Congrats to every one else who was accepted though. You guys are so lucky!

My spring grade transcript request on the portal just cleared up so now all I guess I have to do is wait. I’ll post my stats:
Sophomore Transfer (from UC)
Biology Major
4.0 cumulative GPA
51 quarter units (about 34 semester units)
does anyone know my chances or about when I can expect a decision?

Forgot these stats:

-High school GPA of 4.2
-SAT of 2100
-Math 2 and English SAT 2s were 800 and 720 respectively
-AP score of 4 on APES, APUSH, AP Bio, and AP Lit

@izrobins that’s really unfortunate to hear! when did you send in your sgr? Did you complete any math requirements? business calculus? regular calculus?

I can’t believe there are still rejections going on. Making me a bit nervous right now…

How did you hear about your decision? Portal?

@pomeranian4rich At the same time acceptances are coming in numbers more than last week. Good luck! I really hope you get in, it really seems you love USC #fighton

@transfer9999 provided you took the right classes I think your chances are very strong.Good luck!

@trasfer9999 I don’t see a reason why they would reject you, especially due to your 4.0 GPA

@itslife123 Thanks! I hope you get in as well!

@pomeranian4rich Sent in my SGR on May 27th and heard back through the portal on June 24th. I completed Calc (not business calc) and got a B. I sent in my financial aid information on Monday of this week, so I feel like they were waiting until they had an idea about my level of need before they rejected me. Maybe it’s purely coincidental.

@izrobins USC is blind to need based…or so they say. I’m sure they wouldn’t lie about that.

@izrobins did you take calculus 1 or 2?

Are there any marshall applicants still waiting? I submitted my grades on May 20th and still havent recieved my decision yet. I have a 4.0 and pre-requisities completed so I dont know whats taking so long… I feel like most people have already gotten their decision especially Marshall applicants…

Does anyone else have Megan Skalbeck as their counselor? I emailed her about two weeks ago and she still hasn’t responded. Any advice? I don’t want to be annoying but my SGR still hasn’t cleared and I submitted my transcript about four times since May 15th.

@pomeranian4rich Calc 1

@itslife123 wait what?! Did u get a response already? How come you decided that already?
Maybe that will change if a golden package is at your door :stuck_out_tongue: haha
Yes. Keep in touch!

@bergamott I mean I would have just given the SGR one week to clear then called them once. No need to submit the transcript 4 times.

Son is Marshall applicant, SGR transcript sent early May (although not off cleared portal until early June after several calls to make sure they had it), TTP (legacy), sophomore applicant, still waiting. His move in to his 4 year university is August 31 and we have a lease. The arrogance of USC is staggering (I hope he stays where he is, to be honest). Just tell us.

@jazzshreddermom wow your son, who is on the ttp, is still waiting? I thought all ttp had already heard back!

Yeah i know its like july practically and there are a bunch of those just stuck in limbo and it definitely sucks. Hopefully, they’re waiting this long to see if there were people who chose not to apply because of costs or got into other schools and wait to admit some more people considering last year there were 800 people that didnt transfer even though they were admitted.
