2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

Not to mention that guy from cornel got rejected like wow ! If I was him I’d just try to go back to cornel that’s an even better school than USC

@daRamz Yeah that’s my plan. It’s an amazing school but I just didn’t enjoy it. At this point I don’t really have a choice though…

I just feel really bummed because I couldn’t imagine being rejected this late in the process. I guess I was too confident :/.

@izrobins do you mind emailing your admission counselor and asking for the reason why you were rejected?

@pomeranian4rich I emailed my counselor, Kelsey Bradshaw, immediately after reading my decision on Friday, June 24th. I may just call her on Monday instead of waiting for an email response.

Also, for anyone wondering, this is what my portal looked like when I logged in: http://m.imgur.com/a/UaVUT

The most common reasons for rejection is that there were another applicants they wanted more, and the financial aid budget was depleted. I think you’ll be lucky to get a more specific response.

Well we we are sort of last in line unfortunately I think they have a pile of rejects they’re just making their way through slowly to notify at the end and looking for any exceptional candidates they can scrape from the bottom of the barrel to get their tranfer profile statistics in check to parade out in public to show how smart the class of 2016 2017 is

Just got accepted for Fall 2016
Undecided
I got an SGR on April 21st, submitted grades June 15 received package in the mail June 26
GPA 3.45
Completed handful of Prereqs (3-4)
Decent amount of EC
I’d say my essay was eh maybe a 7/10
Had one Letter of Rec from a good friend, they normally want it from teachers our counselors, but my Admissions counselor said he would read it anyway. It was a really good letter

I checked this forum every couple hours religiously, even lost hope because lots people already got their acceptances

Didn’t think my grades were strong enough to make it to even spring term, let alone fall. Super excited USC is my dream school. Good luck to everyone else, let me know if you guys have any questions.

FIGHT ON!!

@daRamz I don’t think that’s how it works, I think some of us are just at the bottom of the pile and they’re sifting through it to finish. Some schools just finished so they only just got grades. My counselor told me that finding out in mid-July does not reflect available space whatsoever, so the idea of a “wait list” is wrong. The negativity isn’t needed since people clearly are still getting accepted and rejected. See above.

Congrats !!! Cam I ask what major did u tell them u were leaning towards I know you’re u declared but still curious

I thought the mail doesn’t run on Sunday’s?

But congrats! @Oneday1997

And when you apply undecided you don’t really select a major @daRamz

I also thought the mail didnt come on sundays and well i kinda was curious about his essay question on what you might want to study if you were admitted to usc on the common app thing he might put

@daRamz

I have a Pre-professional emphasis on Pre-law, but I’m leaning towards a finance or accounting degree, which means i have to transfer into Marshall

@John6311

Idk about the mail, it might have been delivered on Saturday, but my dad just checked the mail today, and it was justing sitting on my desk when I woke up this morning. Very pleasant superise.

In regards to transferring within USC, is it difficult to transfer? Specifically getting into Marshall.
My GPA of 3.45 is kinda on the lower end, but that just because my first quarter of college kinda got off to a rough start (didn’t manage my time properly). But i did extremely well the last two terms, and I think its safe to say my GPA will only go up (hopefully!!!).

Shoot away if you guys have anymore questions!

I guess it depends on the date on the letter. Maybe it’s the 25th @Oneday1997 Do you live close to SC

I’ll be transferring in 2017, and I was wondering what USC specific essay questions there were on the Common App? I’d like to get a head start

You can open up a common app account and add the school to the list of colleges you apply to and it opens up a bunch of things you can fill out like youre personal info …the essay questions can be seen in the drop down menu once u add the college to your account the essay questions pop up once you add it

its stuff like

USC students are known to be involved. Briefly describe a non-academic pursuit (such as service to community or family, a club or sport, or work, etc.,) that best illustrates who you are, and why it is important to you. (250 word limit)

and

Describe your academic interests and how you plan to pursue them at USC. Please feel free to address your first- and second-choice major selections. (250 word limit)

I feel like a bunch of decisions are going to come this week good luck everyone!!!

@john6311 Correction, the postage and actual letter are dated 06/22/16. I don’t live in California, so thats probably why it took a little while.

@daRamz For the essay, I talked about business a lot, but I also spoke about how I wanted to explore other majors, like economics and political science, hence why I applied undeclared.

@izrobins I have the same counselor. What was your major? how many units have you completed? GE completion? prerequisites completion? I am scared now.
