@johnnyUSC I got my ability to benefit on a Friday and received my portal update the following Tuesday (it was also 4th of July monday so that’s why it came out Tuesday) so most likely you’ll receive your official acceptance Monday
I believe the same goes for anyone else who received that notification today. The trend seems to be that the portal updates first, and then the package goes out, so depending on where you live (I live in SoCal so mine came the very next day) your official Red Folder will follow shortly
@topchoiceschool I live an hour away, so I’m looking for roommates to live in an off campus housing. Whether they’re fall or spring cause I think you have to lease for the full school year
Anyone know where to live off campus? And how to find roommates?
@anxiety2016
I got an email at about 2 am about financial aid. Hopefully there’s a decision in the portal tomorrow, still nothing!!
@ everyone on this forum
@anxiety2016 lol my email says this:
PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS: This notice is not an indication of an admission decision. Financial aid information is gathered and reviewed for all financial aid applicants, regardless of admission status.
Wtf does this mean. I got the ability to benefit thing today too. Am I in?:/!
@eoverland I also just got that email right now! I’m super anxious… I received it because I’m missing a document but I’m going to try to fax that over tomorrow!
Hoping we both get it! Ahh, can’t sleep…
@zettasyntax Do you happen to know anything about appealing for additional financial aid?
@eoverland if you actually got that email regarding the Financial Aid, check the portal! It should have updated to “Ability to Benefit” regardless of missing information!
Yeah i got that email too last early this morning hopefully we get our decisions soon
Does anyone know if you take placement tests during orientation? (If it is required of your major?)
have yall already gotten the whole roomate or housing situation figured out ??? since the i guess hearing housing might be full
Still no decision on the portal ! Think we will be hearing until Monday
@anxiety2016 u get the “Ability to Benefit Verification Required” yesterday?
@johnnyUSC yes
@Transferrring Hmm, not much sadly. I just know that it’s done through the portal and that generally, you will get more aid just by appealing. Just about everybody that I’ve chatted with has reported that they received more aid after an appeal, but that it still wasn’t what they would have liked. Still, most seem satisfied with the increases they received. The financial aid office has generally been pretty helpful in my experiences with them.
@thepinksun I don’t remember there being any time allotted for placement tests during my orientation. If you haven’t already checked the orientation website, it actually says that those placement tests (math and chemistry) can be taken online (or on paper) and should be completed 10 days before your orientation session. However, the schedule does seem to state that you can take a foreign language placement test before orientation if you wish to do so. I had such a fun time at orientation. My fellow transfers (and even the OA) were making cracks at UCLA and laughing, but when I tried, nobody laughed
@zettasyntax you were a spring admit, right?
@John6311 Yup, I was. There were actually a lot of spring admits in my classes, but a lot of them were freshmen.
@zettasyntax wait, even though you were a junior transfer?
If anyone is down to room pm me
