2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

@John6311 rejected from viterbi with a 4.0 and all pre-req completed? I am going crazy now. idk if marshall will also reject 4.0gpa applicants or less next week but I’m losing hope already…

looking back at old threads, next week will be the last week decisions will be finalized… I haven’t heard or seen anyone hear back after mid-july. Keeping my fingers crossed.

@pomeranian4rich Keep holding out, you still have a shot!

@pomeranian4rich Yes, I also think next week will be the last week for decisions. It says that all the deposits are due by the 1st of August so all decisions being finalized next week def make sense.

For those of you that have received your financial aid packet, roughly how much would you pay for tuition? I think my next step is going to be convincing my parents to let me attend

.

@zettasyntax hello, I was wondering if USC accepts people pass July 15?

@Cindyciclta looking back at old threads, I don’t think they do :frowning: All or most people hear back around that date.

Can the people who got accepted last week able to activate their USC ID? Every time I try to activate my USC ID, it says this.
“Your account is not ready for activation. If you were recently added to the system, it may take time for your information to propagate to the required computing systems.”

@pomeranian4rich I guess thats a good thing right? one more week. I still haven’t gotten anything. I guess I should be glad I haven’t got rejected yet… I hope I didn’t jinx myself…

@journalism89 I took 14 units my first semester. I had usually taken around 16-18 units per semester at community college with one exception of a horrific 21 unit semester (never again). It was my intention to take 18 units as well my first semester at USC, but there was a significant amount of overlap and I pretty much had no way of attending a lab session for a human language technology course, so I had no other choice but to drop it. Given that I barely squeaked by with a ~3.0 GPA, it makes me cringe to think what would have happened if I did take 18 units as intended. I wasn’t even working either, so maybe it would be a good idea to try for 14 units just to test the waters. However, if you think that you can handle more, go for it. You could always drop a course before the W period rolls around if you realize you might’ve put too much on your plate :slight_smile:

@Cindyciclta Yup, @pomeranian4rich is right. I also recall that in the 2014 transfer thread, I didn’t exactly see any other acceptances after July 15th. The Marshall guy I like to use an example was accepted on exactly July 15th, I believe, so he was really starting to lose hope. If there were other acceptances after that date, they weren’t really posted on the forum, so once again, I pretty much agree that this upcoming week might be the final one for decisions to be released (especially since I think the first non-veteran transfer orientation is July 19th, so they’re basically running out of time).

@jquejque I'm honestly open to anything. I'd prefer an apartment over a room in a house, and am even looking into subleasing for 16-17. I'll look at City Park though, thanks for the suggestion! I won't be bringing a car until maybe spring semester or late fall semester so I want to be as close as possible, especially for shuttle routes. And if any other girls out there need a roommate hmu ^_^;

Also does anyone know of any Facebook pages for housing or a transfer community? I’m waiting to be accepted into a few but time is of the essence.

@daRamz I received ability to benefit on Thursday and package arrived on Saturday

Hopefully we’ll all know our fates by the end of the week. It seems like a lot of people got in last week, trying to remain hopeful!

Hi everyone, I have been following this thread for awhile now. I still haven’t heard a decision yet from Marshall. I emailed the counselor assigned to me a couple of weeks ago and he said my application was still under review. I was rejected last year July 2 and had a spring grade request. This year I received no spring grade request, I am assuming because none of the courses really mattered for USC as they were not required or GE courses.

Did anyone else not receive a spring grade request and is still waiting?

You should definitely call @lwtbaa15
They say you either receive a decision or SGR by June 1. Are you sure you submitted everything? What are your stats?

@CaliforniaUSC The counselor I emailed said he had everything on file and that it was still under review. He did say my file should be completed by the end of June, if not the first week in July and I heard nothing. I called once and the person I talked with said everything was on file as well, so I don’t know what is going on.

I have a 3.91 GPA, 81 completed units at a CCC. My grandfather received a masters and doctorate at USC in the recent past, like 3 or 4 years ago.

I look at yousc all the time and never received any messages through there like I received the SGR last year.

@bergamott I won’t lie though, City Park does have the nickname Shitty Park according to someone I know. But I honestly think it’s a pretty decent place to live. The other one I mentioned is pretty close to the school as well. Do you live super far? If you drive out to LA on a weekday, you can probably go to some of the leasing houses in apartments in the area and ask them for availability and to show you around! :slight_smile:

I’m pretty sure their should be a USC class of whatever year you are thread on Facebook!

@Iwtbaa15 Yeah you should definitely call! It’s understandable that they didn’t ask for an SGR this time around given your unit count. It’s also understandable for USC not to stick to their June 1st deadline (I heard that I was accepted last year on June 6th and I didn’t get an SGR because I was like you (I was rejected the year before), so their deadlines seemed meaningless). Anyway, if you’ve waited this long, you should definitely call or pay them a visit or something. Sounds like something definitely went wrong.

@Iwtbaa15 I think you’re the first applicant to not get a sgr and still waiting. that is really long! you should definitely call and ask
