So have we established that the ability to benefit notification is a for sure acceptance or is that still an assumption? I don’t want to get my hopes up.
I got the benefit thing on Friday and my portal has not changed since then.

@zettasyntax @pomeranian4rich I will most likely try to call tomorrow or email the counselor again, he is Michael Gulotta. I just don’t want to be a pest and make them angry or anything. But, I do feel like I gave plenty of time for an answer by now.
@eoverland don’t worry ! Mine has not changed either. I am pretty sure it will update tomorrow. Someone on here said they got the ability to benefit on Friday and their portal did not update until Tuesday because of the Fourth of July weekend.
@Iwtbaa15 you most definitely should have heard back by June 1 if they did not require your spring grades. I think everyone on here waiting submitted a SGR sometime at the end of May or beginning of June. I don’t think it’s bothering them, they’re there as our counselors!
@bergamott you can try Icon plaza! It’s a little more expensive but it is close to campus and has better reviews than Gateway
@eoverland @anxiety2016 If you got the ability to benefit I’m 99% sure it’s an acceptance. I got mine on Friday morning and by Friday around 2pm my youSC had updated.
@jquejque I live on the opposite side of the country lol and won’t be able to visit before move-in basically, so I’m relying on hearsay.
@lwtbaa15 yeah thats crazy you still don’t know, and you have good stats too. You should definitely call, don’t be afraid to! It is their job after all. Do you know why you got rejected last year?
@itslife123 I wouldn’t call Viterbi impacted that implies they have too many and it is over-crowded. They are just highly selective with only so many spots they need to fill and they fill most with regular freshman admits and TTP applicants (which were notified of this status when they applied as freshman). It seems people on this thread have an idea that if they meet the requirements with classes and gpa they will get in. This is a private school, there is no expectation for them to accept any transfers like there is at a CA public, USC can do what they want. And in so doing, they reject more than 5,000 transfer applicants, many with stellar gpa’s.
On this thread it seems like so many are getting in, but virtually all that are following that get rejected don’t ever post or go away from the USC forum when they do. A couple folks that didn’t get in did post, and it is nice to see this be a supportive forum. But 99% that get rejected won’t do that. So there is a lopsided view that everyone is getting in. So not true.
@CaliforniaUSC last year I’m pretty sure I was rejected because I took a W in business calculus, which is a requirement to have, but now I got an A in it, so all should be good. Even though I have heard USC doesn’t like W’s, I only have one.
By the way, where is everyone seeing this benefit thing?
@lwtbaa15 yeah if you finished it with an A you’re definitely solid. Go to yoUSC, then press “Check the status of your financial aid application” and for those who have been accepted the ability to benefit verification appears
@Iwtbaa15 the ability to benefit thing shows up on the USC FAST (fafsa area) instead of having those green and yellow icons saying that your application is pending, no action required …the eligibility tab and the application in review tab on the page change to a red icon stating action is required
I got mine like last week thursday or friday but still havent gotten my decision yet but I did get an email from usc saying i need to submit more info to determine my need based aid and the email ends with a …
PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS: This notice is not an indication of an admission decision. Financial aid information is gathered and reviewed for all financial aid applicants, regardless of admission status.
was hoping for a decision already …but still we wait
@CaliforniaUSC mine still says pending. So I obviously didn’t receive anything yet. I will definitely call tomorrow!
@daRamz I got an email too. But I am not sure that we need to submit or not. some people say that we do not need to submit anything…it will be disappear. Also most people got acceptance letter without any submitting. do i need to just wait? I got an email on friday…
@ntbyooo well some people pointed out its just a sign that wed get accepted when we get the message which I hope and that we didnt need to turn anything in seeing as people turn in highschool transcripts whenever we apply to the school regardless so why would we have to turn in another copy so im waiting monday tuesday the latest for a hopeful decision then calling
hopefully my portal updates tomorrow!! got the ability to benefit friday night and I can not tell you how badly I want to have my acceptance packet
hey! does anyone know what they are doing for housing? since all on campus dorms are full…are there off or on campus apartments available?
@albaab only off campus housing apartments are available at the moment.
You might want to sell a kidney if youre looking for an off campus apartment hahah
