2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

The cheapest one I have researched so far is Lorenzo at 960 per month

is that single or shared room ??

Oh! if anyone is looking into off campus housing and looking into roommates, I am looking into the option too since it seems to be the only considerable one…Facebook message me :slight_smile: Al-Baab Albeezy Khan. Hope to see you Trojans soon and for those still waiting…know that you guys definitely have the odds in your favor :slight_smile: it will all be worth it in the end!

where yall from?

@daRamz that is a shared. Single(private) is 1300+

Bruh if you look you can find a single room for 960 if youre willing to walk a bit or take the bus if you dont drive just saying
@John6311

anyone looking for a roomate ??
Seems like if you go it alone for an apartment youll have to sell a kidney to afford it
but if youre looking for a roomate some of these places you can get your own room and just share like a living space if you really look…

Everyone talking about apartments:

I went down last weekend to look around. The area isn’t great so I wouldn’t consider stuho apartments. Lorenzo and gateway are two of the only apartments with rooms left. Icon, west 27th, and Tuscany are all full.

University gateway: close to campus (safe walking distance), about 950 to rent a bed in a two bedroom apartment with two beds in each room. Decent amenities. Washer and dryer on each floor.

Lorenzo: farther from campus but they have shuttles every 15 minutes to campus. Washer and dryer in unit. About 996 to rent a bed in a two bedroom (each room has two beds). SOOoo many amenities at Lorenzo (movie theatre, 4 pools, rooftop pool, three story gym, ect.

In my opinion Lorenzo is the better choice because it offers so much more for only about 50 bucks more but it all depends on price range. If you don’t choose one of these two places you will neeeeeeed a car because the area is very unsafe. The prices also vary based on if you’re willing to go in a three bedroom or if you want your own room. You also basically take a questionnaire to find roommates and they place you with people looking for roommates so you don’t have to find your own people to live with.

Let me know if anyone has any questions because I might be able to help out!!

@eoverland $996 per person? For 1 month?

@uscmarshallbound yep, welcome to Los Angeles :slight_smile:

Ya, $995 per person (per bed in a shared room) per month at the big complexes. Also that is a 12 month lease, you pay whether you need it or not over the summer. Forget subleasing unless you have a friend that needs it. If you can get a 10 month lease it is more per month, around $1150 at Gateway and Lorenzo.

Lorenzo is like a fine hotel, but the shuttles have a bad reputation. If you have a car, parking is another $125 - $175 per month at the big complexes. Do not rely on finding street parking - it doesn’t exist or your car windows won’t last long.

For out of state people: For those who are looking to find a place and doesn’t mind driving I would look into east Los Angeles area. Such as Monterey park, Alhambra, east Los Angeles, or Pasadena (rich neighborhood aka RN), south Pasadena (RN), San Marino (RN).
You can find rooms for rent, or apartments for those fancy folks :stuck_out_tongue:
I think these cities are a lot safer than near USC. And it’s much cheaper by (30-50%) depending on what you’re looking for.

I wouldn’t recommend east LA unless you get fully out of LA city. Really not safe.

@uscmarshallbound yeah 996 a month

Yeah thats a bit on the pricey side and gateway would be the way if u wanted to be like right next door to usc and have your own room

but if anyone else is looking to go a few extra miles out out and is willing to drive a bit or take the bus to school if u look at the 2 bedroom apartments u can save yourself a small bit of money if youre not looking for the crappy overpriced housing next to USC

so yea im looking for a roomate if youre interested

Anyone know about a place off campus that does 6 month lease? I rather be at the Troy apartments come spring!

There are those really run down cheap barely qualify to be a box apartments witha community bathroom next to USC for like 500 something a month is a 12 month lease though and its like a closet

for anyone who is looking for the cheapest thing possible

@Cindyciclta I’m pretty sure the usc prez supposedly lives in San Mario. I know that the city of East Los Angeles scares people. I’ve lived there all my life, so it doesn’t bother me. I spoke with a Caucasian Spanish linguistics professor and he told me that he’s scared of East LA even though he believes it would be interesting for his work lol (he does research with Los Angeles born speakers of Spanish versus native ones from Mexico, etc).

Thats true those places right off campus will straight up rob u hahaha if you can commute wether it be by bus or if you have your own car you can save a bit of money and still have your own room…ive been looking at some sites and well u can go find a two room apartment around LA and split it around 700 instead of paying like in some places almost a thousand to share a room right off campus

@zettasyntax @eoverland don’t scare people off man!! Lol
well when I mean east Los Angeles I meant EAST OF Los Angeles lol. East La has a lot of Hispanics but San Marino is like a hella rich area. Pasadena, and north Alhambra is nice. A lot of Asians… Neighborhood is safe. I live there.

For people who are reading and not familiar. There is a city called “east Los Angeles” and what I’m talking is about east of* Los Angeles.

@daRamz all of the cheaper options seem to be in really sketch areas lmao

For me personally I would rather live closer to campus since it’ll be my first year there, then choose to live somewhere else and do the whole commute thing.
