It seems like all of the students that have received a decision applied in the month of January. So maybe the admissions are reviewing the applications from the date which they received the applications. I know I submitted my application on the actual due date which was Feb. 1st.
@topchoiceschool Yeah, just to add, I was admitted as a sociology major (my second choice) and I wanted to switch over to a new major that was more in line with my first major choice and since it was in Dornsife, all it seemed to take was an email to an advisor for the major and the promise that I would meet with him to go over a course plan. He even switched my major before I had even gone to see him! (I did go the following week though :P) Changing schools does seem more difficult though and it seems that it is based off of how well you perform in certain courses (and getting high grades in something like Viterbi might be quite a task). However, I clearly recall a poster from last year being told by someone at USC that they could easily switch from Dornsife to Annenberg without issue, so maybe it depends?
@John6311 It seems to have more to do with that TTP thing. I’ve been on this forum for about 2 years (I’ve been through 2 USC transfer cycles) and I’ve never seen anybody get accepted quite this early. I don’t think the time you apply has much to do with anything because I submitted my application very early last year and still didn’t hear back until the last possible day USC hoped to notify all transfers (I think it was even a day or two after) Unless USC just wants to switch everything up this year.
@zettasyntax I’m also on TTP, but haven’t received a decision. And as far as academic standing is similar to those who have been accepted. I have a 4.0 as well, but that shouldn’t be a sole reason as to how someone got accepted. Idk, I’m just extremely nervous, but trying to stay positive. Also, there was one student who was admitted and had no clue what the TTP was about. But overall, admission is so unpredictable and funky, so who knows
Me and my friend both got into Marshall. We are Univ of Washington students. Transferring as junior with pre professional accounting emphasis. My gpa is 3.74. Have completed all the prereqs and even upper business cores.
@jasprazet Wow congrats to both of you guys! I don’t think I’ve seen anyone on this thread get a response from Marshall yet. Are you guys TTP? (I’m assuming not because you guys are junior transfers, lol)
USC’s decisions seem to be coming out super early this year.
Thank you. We have not received any email or physical mail yet. We just checked at the portal and it says we got in. It is weird. The decision was seen to be sent on 5th and 6th april but we were just able to find it out yesterday and today through the portal. Just check your portal daily. Thats what I did.
Im a legacy so I was on ttp that I came to usc 2 years ago during summer and planned my courses. Good luck to everyone here!
@jasprazet by portal do you mean you.usc.edu?
yes
@John6311 nah. I think all the people who are hearing back are TTP for the most part. I sent in my app like the day before and got in. However, I am in TTP so I think that’s why I heard back so soon.
@js119999 I’m looking to major in finance, so being in or close to NYC would definitely help in terms of getting the right internships :D. USC is my first choice in the West Coast though!
@js119999 I want to get into finance too! IB?
@js119999 oh I see. im on the TTP as well, submitted my app on the due date and have not heard of anything yet.
I wonder why they’re only releasing decisions for TTP applicants mainly? But even with you submitting your application the day before is still Janurary, which was what I was talking about. But yeah I agree tbh, I don’t think the date has anything to do with it.
Hopefully the next cycle comes out soon though. Also, do you go to a CC or a four year university, and what was your GPA?
@John6311 Im also on the TTP and haven’t heard anything. Which majors did you apply for?
@dtrojan112 Hey! I applied as an African-American Studies major and undeclared as my second option. If you were wondering, I am actually African-American just to clarify, lol. Also, when did you submit your application?
@John6311 I submitted mine mid January. I applied as International Relations (Global Business) then open undecided as my second option.
@John6311 haha I guess. And I went to CSUN. Took 31 units in total including this semester. I am expecting a cumulative GPA of 4.0. Last semester I had a 4.0 too. Yeah. I hope you get your decision soon. My friend who is on TTP is anxious bc she hasn’t gotten hers yet.
@iamthetopgun oh wow! How fun! Finance?! sarcasm haha I’m just kidding. I’m pretty sure Stern would be strong in that field. But Marshall has the Trojan network. So you can’t lose in either case really. GL TO U.
@IBProspect123 HAHA that’s great! Finance sounds… Exciting! Lol. Whatever floats your boat! I’m leaning towards marketing and whatnot. I know USC doesn’t have marketing for undergrad
AND ANYONE know anything about the housing app? Do we submit it right now? I visited campus today and am hoping they have some good spots left for transfers. From what I’m seeing, most of the people I’ve been matched with are freshman. So if any of you guys know anything about that, please LMK! And if you guys have any opinions about which on campus apartments are good, definitely share with me please!
@js119999 Typically campus apartments are going to have majority freshmen. I would look for off-campus housing near the school.
Hi everyone. First of all, good luck to everyone applying!
I will apply for Fall 2017 Marshall/Pre-Accounting, because I will take Business Calc next semester (Fall 2016) at my community college. My question is, if my last semester at CC will be Fall 2016, will it be okay to take a semester off (Spring 2017) and apply to USC and (hopefully) enroll Fall 2017?
Also, I went to high school outside of the US (the Phillippines to be exact). Should I worry about the foreign language requirement? I only took one semester of Spanish but I am thinking I might be exempt from the requirement. Thanks in advance!
Has anyone heard back from USC about when they will be sending out the decision letters? And will they be posted on you.usc.edu? Has anyone gotten an acceptance back from Marshall?
