Yea it takes around 3 weeks for all my documents! Standard order at my university is 7 business days. Since my college is relatively close to USC, it took only a few days to get there. I called USC previously before and they said it takes around 2 weeks for them to update it on to you.usc upon receiving documents! @pugluver97
@ElevatedThinking June 1st??? I don’t want to live on this Earth anymore.
That’s their deadline to release everything. They will have decisions before that date.
Does anyone know when SGR’s will start being sent?
Hi fellow hopeful transfers!
I was wondering if I should e-mail my counselor if I can switch my major on my application because I just realized that I have finished more pre-reqs for another major that I didn’t apply for. Will this hurt my chances?
@tashanicole Based on past years I’d assume they’d start going out end of this month!
Quick question in preparing to apply next year: can I take online courses at my CC to count towards GE requirements? I am planning on taking Anthropology online for the Category II requirement.
Hi guys, I’m really new to this. Do we have to send them updated transcripts? Or is the spring grade request something that if we receive we send over the updated grades? Thank you
Also, what is the “statement of purpose”? Is that the personal statement? Was this supplemental to what we submitted on the common app?
@grimmghost I don’t think we have to send anything extra unless they explicitly ask us for it. The statement of purpose is a personal statement for when you apply to grad school, idk why we have it in our document list.
@successs You should definitely go ahead and send them an email to see what they say. I know one user on here (although I can’t remember their exact username moichi-something or maybe something with purple) also decided that they wanted to try for a different major. From what I recall, their counselor stated they would put it on the application to indicate an interest in sociology (that was the major they wanted instead) and it’s ultimately what they were accepted as No harm in sending an email to try, although USC is definitely weird sometimes. You think they’d admit you to the major where you have more of the prep work done, but not always
@OCCtoUSC That’s perfectly fine. The only category that must be done in a traditional classroom would be the science category. I took an anthropology lab course that was okay for the UC system, but it was not okay for USC because it was an online class.
@grimmghost You don’t have to send them spring grades if they don’t hit you with an SGR, but if for whatever reason your spring semester ended early and they still haven’t give you a decision, you could always send them anyway One of the times I applied, I took macro econ in an 8 week session and sent them the grade for that before they even asked. It certainly can’t hurt to send them new grades as they become available
@Probtransfer @zettasyntax Thank you very much. I just emailed my district admissions counselor, I asked about that supplemental information being up yet the message states that they have everything they need (I submitted all requirements through the commonapp). I’ll post the response from the counselor if there is any information that is misleading- otherwise I think we are in the clear.
@zettasyntax thanks again! you’re such a big help (and more responsive than the admission counselors!).
One more thing really quick, if I attended CC full time Spring 2008-Fall 2009 and then again Fall 2014-present, does that mean I follow the old GE curriculum?
Hey @zettasyntax, I just got a reply from my admission counselor about taking a semester off!
“Yes, if you have completed all required courses and completed the 64 maximum transferrable units, we will not consider it a concern if you are not enrolled Spring 2017.”
Can someone chance me?

@OCCtoUSC That’s pretty cool of them! I didn’t think they would suggest/let you take the semester off
That’s an area I’m not too knowledgeable in unfortunately. I have read several times that the old GE requirements apply for people that started college before Fall 2015 and in either case, I would assume you’re fine. Did you get a response from your counselor about this one? I want to learn how wrong (or right) I am about this
@aggietransfer Damn, I don’t like saying something is a sure thing, but if you don’t get an offer from USC, they’re crazy Your GPA is a bit lower than the average admitted, but that’s relatively normal for people in tougher majors. And frankly, with all the research/work you’ve done, who cares? All that will definitely make up for your GPA not being the average. USC seems to love people that try hard and the fact that you want to finish up your education is something quite commendable. Good luck
@aggietransfer how many semester credit have you completed? and do you have 2nd intended major?
@zettasyntax Does USC accept an electronic official transcript? or do they require us to send the paper transcript? My college offers an official electronic transcript which is directly sent by the registrar’s office.
@zettasyntax I sent my transcript through my school’s electronic system and USC accepted it
@victory1 Like @badmintongirl says, that works. It’s probably even better than mailing them in case they get “lost” in the mail somehow
