2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

I am a first generation college student, but I live another state over. @pomeranian4rich there are questions on the common app regarding your parents’ education. I guess if you don’t put down they went to college, then they assume you are a first generation college student.

So, question about the whole oasis thing. What do those who can’t log in see? I was able to login, but I feel like everyone can do it as long as you use the right password

@js119999 it just means that they have made a decision on your application whether its acceptance, rejection, or SGR.

I think they take financial need and being a first gen into account with the scholarship more than whether or not you’re local. I’m a first gen (no one in my family has been to college other than me) and I talked about it in my essay but I live in Georgia. It says that it isn’t limited to first gens or locals though.

So, I received an email a few hours ago inviting me to apply to the Norman Topping Scholarship at USC… I’m really hoping this is a sign of acceptance… I think it would be silly to send out an invite to a bunch of students who aren’t accepted? maybe that’s just wishful thinking haha … anyone have any info?

@brookecandy I doubt they would do that. but who knows.

does anyone know if they mentioned this scholarship on last years thread? Also would anyone have the link to last year’s transfer thread or do they get taken down?

The Topping scholarship doesn’t mean anything, I got it when I was a senior in high school years ago too and I was rejected afterwards

Hey guys! How can I log into OASIS? I use the University ID I received when I first applied through the email they sent? then use my birthdate MMDDYY for the password?

Hey guys can anybody chance me just based on GPA stats? Now I know “chance questions” are probably annoying on here, but I just want a little sign of hope… Maybe  So in hs I had a 3.9 and graduated at the top of my class, but now in college (4 yr public) I only have a 3.125 based on 16 credits. Would that be a problem? Thanksss

@ohwiseone what school are you attending? what is your first intended major?

@victory1 I currently attend Colorado State University and intended major is bio with a pre-med focus

@itzidlt yeah pretty much. But I think only ppl who got a decision are able to access OASIS. My friend who applied but didn’t get her decision isn’t able to log on.

@ohwiseone wow! your high school stats are very impressive. However, if you have 30+ units after the spring semester, HS stats are not considered as much (I think they will still know you are a strong student though based on your HS transcript). What type of college courses are you taking?, bc a 3.125 is a bit lower than their average transfer GPA of 3.6/3.7. and are you a sophomore/junior? I think they are more lenient with junior transfers bc they have roughly 2 years of grades instead of a single semester.

@js119999 Yeah that’s what I’m worried about haha, my GPA is way lower than the transfer average. And I’m a sophomore transfer. Right now I’m taking the general ed classes like biology and chem.

Hey guys! so I’ve been trolling this site for almost 2 years now finally need to post something.

Applied to USC Annenberg- Broadcast for Fall 2016

I currently have a 4.0 at SMC one W- women’s studies. Just finished midterms and on track to maintain my 4.0 for SGR if that happens. I’m a non traditional student. I’ll be 30 this fall high school and cc transcript from 2004 are abysmal, like truly but I’ve really gotten my act together and grown up. I had my English and Journalism teachers do my letters of rec ( do these matter?) both professional writers and I work as a copywriter/blogger. I got the email for the Topping scholarships today which I know is just something flagged by FinAid but seriously! What are my chances? I’m dying!

@ohwiseone yeah  did you perhaps write about that in your essays? I think an explanation for your circumstance wouldn’t have hurt. overall, I would say you have a pretty good shot. I mean they do have your HS records that clearly show that you are a smart kid. and freshman GPA is a bit more lenient bc of all the transitions and whatnot. GL!

@js119999 yeah I wrote about the low GPA in my essay! Thanks for the info and good vibes!

@ohwiseone haha no problem! :slight_smile:

My “Restrictions” page on Oasis hasn’t changed since 1/23/16. Guys, I wouldn’t worry about not accessing Oasis, I truly wish it meant something but it looks like it doesn’t.

Is anyone a Viterbi applicant. I heard that they are probably the last ones to reply, but curious to see if anyone has heard anything or applying. I Haven’t seen any on this thread.
