2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

My “SGR” just said that they reviewed my app and that the needed “the following documents,” which were my UCSB transcripts

@zettasyntax what’s the password for oasis?

Help me out: I emailed my admissions counselor asking to meet with him in person 2 days ago. He responded today asking “what classes are you taking this spring?”

Thoughts? I’m working on a draft to him now

@grimmghost hmmm answer his question, maybe?..unless I’m missing something here.

I am. I just have never heard of this happening, UC applicant problems.

Was simply wondering if that hints an interest in my application or is a substitute for an SGR form, not sure. No need for sass.

@Kraz4CocoPuffs It should be MMDDYY or maybe MMDDYYYY so your date of birth. I’m pretty sure it’s the first one though. If you try both and can’t get in, that just means you don’t have access to OASIS. Having access means nothing because after all, I had access in 2014 and was rejected that year.

@grimmghost sorry, that wasn’t my intention. I would answer truthfully and offer an explanation if you deem it absolutely necessary. Otherwise, keep your message professional and free of any errors. Keep us posted with how things unfold, anything helps. Good luck.

Quick Question:
my decision states, “To reserve your place in the class and enable you to register at USC, you must submit a $300 Enrollment Commitment Deposit (or valid waiver request) within two weeks of this notice.” However, the websites states that either June 1 or within two weeks. After speaking to couple of admission officers, no one really has a definite answer. Any suggestions?

hey guys! just wondering if anyone got in from norcal cc yet? also, i dont have access to oasis so pretty worried, did anyone get in without previously having access to oasis?

lol this wait has me soooo anxious… these late decisions are killer :frowning: I’ve already gotten decisions from the 2 other colleges I applied to. I was denied to UCLA, was anyone else?

@zettasyntax Thanks for the answer! Super helpful. Just two quick followup questions:

  1. When you were accepted, did you first receive the decision through the portal, or through physical mail?
  2. Do you rememher around when you were accepted? Early May?

@doubleo7

4.3 HS GPA, 4.0 College GPA, 33 ACT

@ElevatedThinking

Washington University in St. Louis…

Good luck to you guys, hope everyone here gets in!

Hey is the decision gonna be in the www.you.usc.edu?

@ElevatedThinking I received my acceptance in the mail before I ever saw anything on my portal. I know for sure that rejections show up on the portal first because I didn’t get a physical notice of my rejection until like two weeks later lol :stuck_out_tongue:

I wish it was early May! I honestly think my counselor forgot about me because he sent me an email in early May saying something like “Oh hi, I’m Clay. I see you applied last year, but I’ll be the counselor in charge of your application this cycle. It seems you’re missing…” I didn’t get my acceptance until June 6th, a few days after their deadline to notify everybody of some type of decision and I got in for the spring semester, which I’m still a little bitter about :stuck_out_tongue:

@zettasyntax Haha I guess that’s the big downfall of a rolling decision system. You just have to sit and wait.

Thanks for all the info! How is USC for you? I’m definitely more on the introverted side, so I don’t know if I’ll fit in the USC culture that’s so famous for being outgoing.

@ElevatedThinking I’m definitely liking it so far, but the classes are a bit harder than I anticipated! I switched my major to computational linguistics shortly after enrolling (very easy process) and I actually scored (slightly) better than the class average on my CS exam, but got a very low C (maybe even a D; I try to block out that morning :P) for my first linguistics exam - and the class is even a GE. That really woke me up that they don’t mess around.

I’m pretty shy. I found this Hispanic Center on campus that I really enjoyed hanging out at - they even had churros on some days I went. Ultimately, I did feel a little left out though because all of the people there seemed to know each other since the fall - yet another downside of my spring admit status for me. I’ve seen at least one crazy thing - some shirtless frat boys were sliding across the grass in McCarthy Quad when it was raining one day, so a number of students sure are a lively bunch if that’s your thing :slight_smile: :stuck_out_tongue:

@zettasyntax hey! i totally understand how u felt, i havent received any notice from them and it makes me feel like they totally forgot about my application or something. would u recommend that i contact them to see if there’s anything else i can provide?

@enmngm Have you heard nothing at all from them? I suppose the only you can do is trying giving them a call just to see what they say; something like “Oh is there anything missing from my application?” All they can say is no. When I applied in 2014, I took a course that was an 8 week course and I sent them any new official grades as they became available. If your semester/quarter ends and USC still hasn’t gotten back to you, maybe it’s a good idea to send in your spring grades. I sent them so many transcripts that I’m sure I annoyed them. But at least they had them :slight_smile:

@zettasyntax Is that by the VKC library? I’ve totally seen that but on a different day when it wasn’t raining!

@bugsoberoi not sure if anyone answered you yet, but I would send in the commitment as soon as you can. If you know for sure that you want to go to USC, there is no reason to wait until June 1st. However, it would make sense to wait until a financial aid award comes in (should be in early May). If you are still waiting to hear back from other schools, you’re in a tougher spot, but you could probably arrange something with your admissions counselor.
