Waiting until June/July/ even late July… Literally right before Fall semester starts… sounds so awful.
I got my SGR message today. So…Do I need to wait until mid-july???no way…
@ntbyooo It depends on whenever your Spring 2016 semester ends and when you’ll be able to receive your grades to send to USC, then they process and make decision.
This wait is killing me. I honestly don’t think I have an amazing shot at getting in to Marshall, but I just want to know. I keep checking the portal and my mailbox religiously.
How does it ask you to submit spring grades? officially or unofficially or both? Curious as my son has not been asked yet, but wants to submit anyway as they were great.
@jazzshreddermom I submitted my grades for spring 2016 without being asked through the “Submit application documents” or whatever it’s called… My semester is over in 2 weeks and my spring grades are at a 3.95 so I sent it in without being asked. If you are asked to submit officially, it will be in your Application Status a letter asking for them.
I understand how the asking is done. I’m asking how the submitting is done - if you submitted official or unofficial, or both, etc. If it’s done by you, then it’s an unofficial report you’re uploading, correct?
@jazzshreddermom you just submit it on the youSC portal under the submit option. You file a Midterm report with your school’s administration/registrar or whichever department does it for you. You can find the CommonApp midterm report online, just google it. Then have your son fill out his info then have his school send it out to his professors so that they can record his current grade + comments
If the administration does it for you, they will send it to USC themselves, however.
It’s not a midterm report. He’s not in HS. He has final spring semester grades from his college. The academic year is finished at his four year university. I’m just trying to ascertain how exactly USC asks college students seeking transfer to submit spring grades on the portal - if they upload an Unofficial doc themselves AND/OR have their college registrar send the official report. He can upload his unofficial ones himself now AND ask the registrar to send. (Also I have never heard of doing final Spring college grades through the Common Ap for transfer students.)
@jazzshreddermom Spring grades should be submitted as an official transcript. The submission depends on the current school’s system. If the current school can send them directly, then you should do that. If not, you can pick up a physical copy of the official transcript and submit it via fax or scan it and upload it as a pdf.
^Right, but specifically (sorry I’m not speaking English I guess) - when USC asks for them on the portal, by what means do they ask them to be submitted in that message? thanks. (No copy submitted by a student is technically ever “official.”)
Send them through his current schools registrar. Either go in person and request an official transcript be sent or he can probably do it online. That’s assuming his grades for this semester are final and USC requested them.
^ right. Just have your soon call the school to request his transcripts to be sent. Or he can request them online( if his school does that) and have them sent that why. Don’t do it on your own, even if it says. I just finished submitting mine. It’s basically the same process that he did when he submitted his fall semester grades.
Has anyone received a request to turn in things they submitted ages ago??? I have a name change and it’s totally slowing down the whole process with these transcripts being updated on my account. I got a letter today basically saying you better turn this stuff in!
Speaking from experience, either way can be done. I’m on the quarter system and submitted my fall grades by requesting my current school to send them directly, and I sent my winter grades by ordering a transcript and scanning and uploading it as a pdf. I was accepted last week if that makes a difference. As long as the transcript itself is official (should have the school’s watermark or other identifying mark), it will be fine.
Funny. self-ordering a transcript and downloading into a pdf from my son’s school includes a front page warning that it was electronically sent to one recipient and may not be replicated or forwarded to any another recipient, please report to the University, blah blah. I think I"ll have him just have his school send it - slower but official. Thanks.
Any viterbi applicant? So far I have only seen one viterbi getting accepted. This wait game is killing me. I want to stop freaking out but I can’t help it
@waitgame Im a viterbi applicant. Im pretty sure that guy was trolling. I don’t think anyone in Viterbi will get a decision/SGR until may 25-29
