2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

The user who asked about OASIS never had their question touched upon or directly answered, but no worries. I am also wondering what people have under Application Review under “check the status of financial aid.” I could of sworn it used to say will be coming out early May, but now it says 3-5 days. Sorry if I am repeating information. Just found the thread a few days ago.

@PDrake6 I keep talking about OASIS, but I’m happy to talk about it again  OASIS is basically like a “student information system” that lets USC students know how far along they are with their degree, what classes they are registered for, a book list for their classes, record ordering, etc. It’s intended for USC students, but for whatever reason, there’s this “glitch” where potential students have access. Some say it has to do with whether or not you applied for financial aid that you get access, but there are exceptions and basically, nobody is really sure.

Having access in and of itself means absolutely nothing. I had access in 2014 and I was rejected that year. There are many applicants that never had access prior to their acceptance and this makes sense as it is intended for USC students only.

In my experience, the financial aid status will change like that, but nothing really happens until after you’re accepted. When I applied again in 2015, my financial aid status for 2014 still said “in-review” or something along those lines; it was frozen :stuck_out_tongue:

@manuealesc Did you try registering? I think you have to make the account, if not request, “forgot password” and it will email you the password on the admission file. At least that’s what it says on the page. https://housing.usc.edu/Portal/Default.aspx?Params=L9ezxPcQnQsKfjb%2fN3ih6r%2bT%2fUHqWA5N

If I hit forgot password and I got an email regarding my info, does that mean they already reviewed my application and I either got denied/accepted? Although it does says if you get the email, it’s for admitted students only, not sure if it’s a bug of not, lets hope for the best I guess…

Has anyone heard back from Sol Price?

@zettasyntax Yo! Regardless if an applicant gets accepted/rejected, before any decision is made, the restrictions have to be updated? Mine still says “1/22/2016” -.-

@silvermansachs It might totally indicate your acceptance, then, because I just tried what you did and it said “password could not be sent” which I’m guessing is because my application has probably not been reviewed yet (or worse…the unspeakable has happened)

@taftie101 I applied for Narrative Studies, as well, and have yet to hear back. For some reason I feel like I’ll get some kind of decision around May 15th (and I arrived at this assumption from looking through past threads)

Is anyone else applying for the NTSAF? I’m currently working on my Norman Topping scholarship application and am just about ready to send it in. Just waiting for one more letter of rec! It would suck if I put all this effort into applying for the scholarship and get straight up rejected from USC :((

I wouldn’t worry too much about the housing portal. I tried the “forgot password” method after I was accepted and it didn’t work. When I emailed the housing office they told me to register. Even if you get a “password could not be sent” error you could still be accepted.

Come on USC, you have 4 weeks left to notify us non sgr getters

What’s freaking me out the most now is that my restrictions changed yesterday afternoon, but my STARS reports haven’t changed…

@kawaiihawaii Try registering instead (click it next to forgot my password) and see if it lets you that way! Let us know the outcome!

This may have changed, but in the past with freshman application cycles, registering for housing was technically possible for everyone, even those not going to be accepted. The words on the site declaring that housing registration was for admitted students only were basically a “red light,” not a declaration that only admitted students would be able to successfully register.

Got SGR yesterday. I’m an out-of-state Marshall applicant, 32 credits (will be a sophomore next year).
3.86 GPA at Wake Forest University
Expecting about a 3.4 this semester. Do you think I will still have a shot even with worse grades in the spring?
Calculus is in process and I’m expecting a B+/A- in that.
Let me know what you guys think

@aggietransfer Yeah, definitely. Three days after my restrictions updated, I was rejected (this was after I sent in my SGR, but I forget how long it took to process). Again, when I appealed my decision, the restrictions updated and they informed me that I was still rejected :stuck_out_tongue: The restrictions pretty much have to change.

Take my most recent cycle, it said something like 2/1/2015 for the longest time as well and didn’t change until 6/4/2015. When it changes. that’s when you expect something - even if it takes eons to change.

When does marshall typically finish hearing back? Do they typically release marshall decisions up until June 1st?

CAN SOME PLS TELL ME WHAY RESTRICTIONS CHANGE MEANS???

@usctrojansucla they have made a decision on your application either its SGR or you’ve been accepted if your stars audit report has been filled out

Does any one have any idea what’s happening w the school of cinematic arts? About what time do they send out applications?

Still nothing… Dornsife applicant. I’m really hoping I don’t get an SGR because I had a rough semester and it’s evident on my GPA.

I just received this:

Hello Jake,
