Thank you, @BunsenBurner! I will.
@fretfulmother, I read the reviews on the first dress. It has a built in bra. So as long as it’s comfortable and fits, you shouldn’t have to worry about the bra situation
Is anyone doing a sparkler send-off? Where did you buy sparkers? Were they 36"?
Easy to order those sparklers online.
Some cities don’t allow sparklers. I saw that mentioned when we were looking for venues.
Sparklers are quite dangerous, especially around fancy dresses and people who have been drinking.
Hello to the All-Stars team of moms and dads! Things have really changed around here. I assume that comments about the new look are not welcomed, but I felt like Helen Keller moving to a new house without warning. Anyhow, just wanted to congratulate all the expanding families! Time has flown by so quickly! Xig
Welcome back.
Hi xiggi. Good to see again. Is your family expanding?
I didn’t think about the drinking aspect with sparklers. Our venue allows open flame candles on the tables, too. Hmmmmmm.
Sorry to be late to the dress review – I think the most important thing is that on a special, but kinda stressful day, you wear something you love. Don’t let what you feel safe in override the fun of wearing something beautiful. I have 2 dresses, one safe and one beautiful one. It feels a little strange and clingy so about once a week I get it out, put it on, and walk around the house in it. DH smiles and says I am making friends with my clothes again… I share the worry that I’ll hate it in photos , but I’m gonna be brave.
Hey xig. Whats new in your world?
@greenbutton . With S1’s wedding, I put on my dress and took photos in it so I could how I looked indoors and outside. Plus I had a bra with clear straps and I wanted to be sure they didn’t have too much reflection through my lace bodice.
For my son’s summer evening wedding I wore kind of a sleek, long dress. My daughter is having a brunch wedding in the spring. I feel like I need something a little more flowy and romantic. Do you think it is better to go with a solid color for pictures?
Thanks, @deb922 !
@greenbutton that is smart advice
We finally have a confirmed venue for DD’s Jan 18, 2020 wedding. The DR goes at a very different pace than here. Her DR wedding planner was not concerned but confirmed it anyhow since it was stressing DD not to have it nailed down. Her dress is done. No real bridal party to concern with. Now on to accommodations and travel. I have a dress but I now think it might be too afternoonish. Found out the DR family will apparently be very dressed up even though it will be a garden wedding. So now I’m looking for more sparkles instead of floral. The details of the wedding itself are being done by the couple. Since the future MIL does not speak any English all communications are going through groom.
Xiggi - are you getting married?
@xiggi - yeah, inquiring minds want to know.
If I remember correctly, xiggi got married 3 or 4 years ago and that was the reason why he no longer had time for cc.
The wedding is still almost a year away, but I have to tell someone…my daughter just found her wedding dress! She lives in another country, and so a friend went shopping with her and sent me pictures. It’s so clear which dress is the one. The look on her face says it all.

The short answer is yes, but not until November 2020. The future bride and I just ended a 16 months world tour/sabbatical and have now started the preparatory work to our wedding that will be in San Miguel de Allende. We are actually visiting my parents who live in the area and going through the various locations. Probably harder than preparing for the SAT, but I will be a supportive spectator as there are enough ladies with strong opinions in my inner circle. On Labor Day, we both will rejoin the workforce in San Francisco. It will not be easy after 18 months of travel and vacation. Hope y’all are having fun!
