2016 and beyond wedding moms and dads (Part 2)

Last year, nephew and sister-in-law picked Dancing Through Life from Wicked for the mother-son dance. Reading the lyrics, it’s an interesting choice.

Neither S nor DIL wanted nor chose a dance with any of us parents, which was fine with us. Haha!

H does not dance. Period. He didn’t dance with me at OUR wedding.

When D got married she had the DJ play a song called “I Love the Green Bay Packers” and we all got in a circle around D and H and they waved Packer flags. That’s as close as we were going to get!

Have had the father daughter dance set since she was a baby. After her bath, I would hold her in my arms as I put her to sleep to Ben E. King’s Stand By Me.

@conmama, how many days and counting? (Or did your son’s wedding already happen?) In any case, hoping it is or was a wonderful, joyous time for all.

I think I found a dress, but did find shoes at the thrift store yesterday. The shoes are great as they are a 1" block heel sandal, and since I haven’t worn heels for 28 years, I think an inch is all I can handle.

I like the dress but it is gold. I don’t think I’ve ever worn gold. I paid full price but before I even received it in the mail it went on sale. Macy’s credited me the difference and I still have 19 days to think it over (and maybe find another dress). The search continues.

It’s not that short on me, more like to my knees, as I’m not a 5’10" model wearing size 4. I am probably that pale.

@twoinanddone - I like that dress!

Very pretty

It’s a lovely dress!

Well, this is the weekend! I leave in 3 hours to begin decorating the rehearsal dinner venue, then the rehearsal at 4:00. I went to Trader Joe’s first thing yesterday morning and bought all my flowers. My friend came over and we made 20 arrangements! Lucky fur me (and another MOG) at Trader yesterday was a lady who owned her own floral shop in a little town about 30 minutes away.

She helped us pick out the additional things that would look nice mixed in with the flowers, and gave a tip about taping the top of the vase opening in squares for the flowers to stand up. How nice of her!

I think I’ll stop being stressed after the venue is decorated. Anxious and excited, but my “responsibility” part will be complete.

I’ll post some pics of things later. I hate circling out faces, but I’ll have too.

Is the wedding in your hometown area? If so, I’m thinking it should be a beautiful weekend with the weather! So happy and excited for you!

And I love that you did the Trader Joe flower thing and it worked out! Fun and economical. And the “frogging” at the top of the vase with tape is a great tip!

Everything will be wonderful because you all will have the support of those around you that love this couple. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!! <3
