2016 and beyond wedding moms and dads (Part 2)

I am putting together little cellophane treat bags for the rehearsal picnic. These will go in a basket for guests to choose, if they want to.

Bags sealed witha fun sticker of the happy couple’s dog. It’s a small, casual affair and guests are 90% bridal party and SOs.

I was thinking of having magnets made, but got stuck on the photos to be used…help! Both Bride and Groom have taken lots of stunning shots when they travel, also lots of wildlife stuff. Orrrr, I could go to the typical photo of them – but do people really want a photo of them for their fridge? 3" round magnets, color photos.

Thanks in advance. I am overthinking…

The gift bag sounds lovely. Honestly, other than immediate family and maybe an exceedingly close friend or two, I’m not sure people would put up the magnet photo of the couple. YMMV.

So many young (well, younger than us!) go to a zillion weddings. It would be cute (imho) to have a refrigerator magnet with photo of each. A display in the kitchen.

My opinion unless they were my kids, I would not use a magnet of other people on my refrig. I feel like this is the fluff you don’t need. Might end up on a refrigerator, might end up in the trash.

My daughter hangs all the invitations/announcement on her fridge and I’ve seen her use the magnets she received to hang those. But that’s usually before the wedding and when the next set of wedding (baby shower, bridal shower) invitations come along, the old ones are tossed and I assume the magnets too.

She gets a LOT of invitations.

I have tried to mention “nobodyis saving the invitation stop micromanaging it” but that falls on deaf ears. They are just excited, and that’s fine.

Magnets , bottle openers, luggage tags…I have never understood miscellaneous stuff given away that’s too personal to be reused.

Got my gown back from the tailor. I have never had a dress this pretty, nor ever had anything altered. Feeling pretty grand today! :joy:

I gave everyone at our rehearsal lunch a tiny bag of HI candy. It was cute, edible and people seemed to love it. Don’t overthink!

I used a local chocolate store for cute favors at the welcome party. I will say they were a huge hit.
I’m not usually into favors, not even edibles but I thought this would be a nice touch.

For our son’s Bar Mitzvah luncheon, I printed table assignment magnets and created a pretty board to display them. And yes, some of them were left behind at the tables but many guests kept them as a souvenir. I had designed and printed all the invitations, thank you cards, etc. so used the same motifs on the magnets. Our other table favor was chocolate bars in personalized wrappers with son’s picture. Those, I had to order.

You can buy tiny sized little ziplock style bags on Amazon at low prices.

I do like edible favors the best. Yoi can get all kinds of persobalized things online-tea bags, coffee, candy, nuts, hot sauce, etc.

My son and his wife do put some things on their refrigerator but for future events-save the date cards or magnets, wedding invitations, shower invitations, for instance.

We’ve stopped putting things in fridge after we replaced last fridge. It looks nice & white & uncluttered—for now. The magnets sometimes mar fridge after they’ve then there awhile.

Most folks just have too much—they like snacks & munchies.

My mom almost completely covered her fridge with magnetized photos of everyone, and when her grandchildren had fridges of their own we would all send them a magnet as a sort of rite of passage.

When dad died and Mom eventually moved to AL, her magnets were a cause of concern – my DH made her a wall hanging to put them on. So magnets are kinda a family thing.

No chocolate – wedding is high summer! But I agree than edibles are fuss free and pretty foolproof.

Now, on to things for the 11 small children at the reception…

Our son’s wedding gift bag in Boston area included dried cranberries. And some kind of local candy. I thought that was fun.

Not directed at anyone particularly, but in the category of “edible favors” – wedding tea:

(The tins can be personalized too)

Yes, I mentioned tea earlier in the thread. There are lots of good personalized options online. I like that idea but of course I like tea!

How old are the kids going to be at the reception, @greenbutton ? Unless they’re all at least four, I would avoid popcorn
