2016 Grammy Awards

Normally, I have only mild interest in the Grammys. However, I’m really looking forward to seeing Adele this year and the performance by the cast of Hamilton. Lady Gaga’s tribute to David Bowie should be a highlight as well. I’m hoping Adele will sing “When We Were Young” as that is my favorite song off her new album.

Anyone else looking forward to it?

I rarely watch award shows . I get the highlights the next day on morning TV. I really am only interested in a few of the bands and nominations. I hope The Alabama Shakes wins at least one ( although best rock performance is a tough choice )

I’m taping it so I can see the surviving Eagles and Jackson Browne sing Take it Easy as a tribute to Glenn Frey.

@2vu-
If you want to watch Adele, if your cable has BBC america, they are broadcasting a concert tonight at 10.

@musicprnt, I had read about that concert a few weeks back, but forgotten. Many thanks!!

I will def watch the Grammys. But, I DVR so that I can fly past the stuff I don’t want to see - and probably won’t finish it the night it airs.

Here are the supposed highlights:
Here’s what to expect from the main event:

Seven-time nominee Swift will open the show with a track from her nominated album, “1989.”
Four-time nominees Alabama Shakes, jazz artist and two-time nominee Joey Alexander and two-time nominee Miguel are also set to take the stage.
“Hello” songstress and 10-time Grammy winner Adele will return to the stage after four years, performing a track from her latest album, “25.”
Lady Gaga will perform a tribute to the late David Bowie.
Lead nominee Kendrick Lamar, who has two Grammys already and 11 nods this year, will take the stage.
Country crooners and two-time nominees Little Big Town will perform.
The Weeknd will make his Grammy Awards stage debut.
A series of collaborations featuring Grammy newcomers will feature nominees James Bay and Tori Kelly; nominees Andra Day and Ellie Goulding; and nominee Sam Hunt with seven-time winner and current nominee Carrie Underwood.
Album of the year contender Stapleton will pay tribute to legendary blues artist B.B. King with Gary Clark Jr. and Bonnie Raitt.
Country singer Luke Bryan, R&B crooner John Legend and pop stars Demi Lovato and Meghan Trainor will perform a tribute to Lionel Richie, MusiCares’ person of the year.
Broadway will return to the Grammys after a five-year hiatus thanks to the cast of the Grammy-nominated musical “Hamilton.” Lin-Manual and the cast will perform a number via satellite from the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York.
Justin Bieber will join collaborators Diplo and Skrillex as they perform their Grammy-nominated song, “Where Are Ü Now.”
The late Glenn Frey will be honored with a special tribute by his Eagles bandmates Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, Timothy B. Schmit and Joe Walsh and close friend and collaborator Jackson Browne.
Nominee Pitbull will take the stage with Travis Barker, Robin Thicke and some surprise guests.
Alice Cooper will join Johnny Depp and Joe Perry as they make their TV debut as the Hollywood Vampires.

Thanks for the rundown, @abasket. I will also DVR, but will probably watch live through Adele and then come back to the remainder later in the evening. I am so spoiled by the magic of the DVR and its fast forward button:)

All I want to do is watch the scene from Hamilton.

^^Me too Missypie! My sister in law got me hooked on the soundtrack!

Well, my favorite A Capella group, Pentatonix, won their second Grammy today and they are performing with Stevie Wonder during the show. They’ve come a long way from their (and my) home town of Arlington, Texas.

Swift’s current hairstyle is very flattering and suits her.

Glad to see Kendrick Lamar nab the first televised award of the night.

Lionel Richie doesn’t look too thrilled at this tribute! Just seems he might be a little more animated!

Absent John Legend, some of those renditions of his songs weren’t the best!

He’s on stage now - he actually looks pretty good - he’s 66.

Taylor was amazing and looked stunning.

Does Stevie Wonder know he is wearing a camo jacket or did someone pull a joke on him?

Great performance by him and Pentatonix.

I too am looking forward to the tribute to David Bowie by Gaga and the Hamilton cast.

But, I feel my age, as I do not know many or most of the nominees and performers!! I guess not having kids around keeps me out of touch.

Ah, but Jackson Browne is on now. I can relate!

So happy for Thinking Out Loud. It has 968,499,070 views on YouTube, and I think I might be half of them.
