2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@Psawyer113096 also make sure that the one you sent was an official copy, if it was just uploaded from your end, it doesn’t really count. Its fine if you’re just uploading one so that they can have a temporary copy, but you also have to send an official copy sent from your current school to USC by snail mail.
If you already did send an official copy, definitely call the office and let them know.

Wait I sent winter grades but they said it didnt have to be official and i could just take a screen shot off my computer??

@Transfer510 if they acknowledged receiving it, thats all that matters

@mellyjune Its weird cause on the check application status the message that they need the grades is still current but its checked off on the recieved documents thing

@transfer510 i wouldn’t worry about it too much. If its been a while since you submitted your updated grades, try giving them a call so they can update everything as received.

so if I have 15 credits in fall and an apply and then I’m going to take 15 in the spring then they wouldn’t weigh hs as heavily?

I’m applying for fall 2018 btw and will start cc in the fall

@xtx237 as long as you will have 30 transferable credits by the end of the spring semester, they will not weigh your HS grades, or test scores, at all. 0%. Nil.

I had the “submit mid year grades” thing on my porta yesterday l but it disappeared today. anyone else in the same position?

Thank you @masechka1988 and @mellyjune. I sent my official transcripts twice, one with and without winter grades. I checked USC’s website and it shows that they received both transcripts, but the message still appears for some weird reason. Thanks again!

@Psawyer113096 I would call your admissions counselor tomorrow and tell them so that they can double check and remove the request.

Thanks for the response !my cc in NYC are a part of the cuny system and we’re able to take up to 10 credits during winter break so I’m going to take 18-21 in fall then 10 in winter then 18 in spring so technically I would have 49 right?

@xtx237 yeah you’ll just need to make sure they transfer as well as fulfill the requirements that you need to meet. Also, MAKE SURE you complete as many GE classes as possible, as well as the university math and writing requirements. The importance of completing GEs seems to be severely understated, and it is a reason that a lot of applicants are rejected. You’re allowed to complete 8 of the 10 GE requirements outside of USC, I would aim for 6 or more, which shouldn’t be a problem if you intend on completing 49 units. Note that some of them can be completed two birds one stone, so just make sure you do the necessary research. Good luck!

can you point me towards where the gEs are listed? Also, i might end up doing all GE’s to be safe due to my complex list.1.USC(Video game design/Film)

2.NYU(Video game Design/Film)
3.RIT(Video Game Design/Animation)
4.University of Utah(Video Game Design)
5.Wesleyan University(Film/Creative writing(English)
6.Emerson(Film production)
7.LMU(Film production computer science+minor in animation)
8.Chapman University(Film Production)
9.University of Iowa(creative writing)
10.Columbia (Creative Writing)
11.Northwestern(Creative Writing )
12.Harvard(Undecided)
13.CalArts (animation/music)
14.Carnegie Mellon(animation/computer science)
15.Syracuse University(New house communications(film concentration)+computer science major+ minor in game design)
16.Hartford(undecided)
17.Boston University(Creative Writing)

(49 credits by end of spring)

@xtx237 If you’re doing USC, NYU, Chapman, and LMU I would also focus on working on a film portfolio that you can submit to the film program, because even if you do all the GEs for those schools it is near impossible to get into those programs without one.

OH MY GOD.

I GOT INTO MARSHALL! Evidently the letter was dated April 20, but I didn’t know until today!!! Check your portals!!!

College GPA: 4.0
College: IL Community College
Credits: 35 now, but 50 after this Spring
HS GPA: 2.9 (yes for reals)
GEs: This is sort of tricky b/c I don’t know how well my courses transfer. At least 3 and up to 5. Probably 4.
LOR: Good?
Essays: Pretty good? Honestly, I think this is why I was admitted.

My enrollment deadline is June 1.

I am still in shock. Good luck to all of you. I thought I was going to be waiting until Mid-May. I have a tough choice ahead of me between Vanderbilt and USC.

Hey guys, I just logged in to the USC portal and it said they will announce transfer admissions by June 1st. I (wrongfully) assumed that results would come out in April along with the other schools. Considering that the SIR deadline for the UCs is June 1, how will people hear back in time?

@phoenix23 Oh my god congratulations!! I’m so happy for you! You’ve worked hard and it’s paid off AHHHH good luck choosing between the two!

I checked the portal and one section of the financial aid is gone (I don’t remember what it was called rip) but I didn’t even apply for financial aid, so is it most likely nothing special? ;;

@phoenix23 Congratulations! These early-ish acceptances are getting exciting!

you already got your decision?!! @phoenix23 CONGRATS!!
