2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

If any of you have the action required thing on your financial aid I would call the office. It takes a few business days if they have to verify something and sometimes, y’know, human error.

hi! i decided to make an account here because i’ve been checking this thread every single day for a few weeks now lol – anyways, did anyone here apply to SCA? or does someone else have any idea when SCA applicants will hear back? i’ve read a lot of comments on here and haven’t seen too many SCA applicants…i know SCA is really difficult to get into (especially w/ the limited amount of space), so my secondary major choice was creative writing in Dornsife…really nervous! but fingers crossed :slight_smile:

Do you guys know whether the application decision is sent through Fedex/UPS or the Postal Service? I live in an Apartment complex and anything non-USPS is delivered to the office (which is only open like one hour a day). I’m afraid Ill get something and wouldn’t even know it lol

It’s USPS

Awesome :slight_smile:

Within my USC Financial Aid portal it now says that I have to submit my parents’ “Tax Information Form, Federal 2015” –would this indicate that a decision has been made, or if not, that I should be worried and submitted this immediately (which I will do either way)? For the longest time it said that no action was required.

@zettasyntax
He’s a current freshman at UCSB under the TTP with fall/winter Ave gpa 3.48.

He got a 4 on AP calc in HS. With a 4.3 GPA.

He also has a rec letter from dean of leventhal, who thought it was a fluke he didn’t get in straight from his private rigorous college prep HS.

With all his AP classes he is already condidered a sophomore. Do they consider the difficulty of the school and classes?

Applying to Marshall.

He’s actually chill about it but I’m the one stalking these threads hence, finally deciding to create an account.

@SCtrojanlove isn’t the minimum GPA requirement for TTP students a 3.6?

@penntousc The minimum GPA requirement is 3.6 for TTP if you decide to stay in the states. If you go abroad, the gpa requirement is 3.3

when are the decisions coming out for 2017-2018 transfer students? I’m nervous

Damn I got nothing from USC FA. Honestly that was to be expected but Vanderbilt offered me $14k. :confused:

@SCtrojanlove I definitely think they consider the difficulty or “rigor” as they put it. I was taking an easier math course (I actually can’t remember if it was pre-calc or stats) and I got a B. I was rejected that year. I think it would have definitely been seen more favorably if I took calc and got a B. In fact, a Marshall applicant that I just love to talk about got a B in business calc and he was accepted to Marshall. He was really nervous that the B would lead to his rejection and even considering withdrawing his application, but he got in :slight_smile: I don’t know much about TTP though or how it works :frowning:

Do students on the quarter system get SGRs on top of WGRs? Or just WGRs?

Wait, I thought the financial aid requirements and application were supposed to be done AFTER the official letter of admissions.

Did I mess up? It says my application is still in review but I haven’t submitted any of it because I was waiting for a decision first.

@penntousc @cooljon525
As TTP they mention on their perse contract that should you meet the requirements, you are as good as in. However, should you not meet the GPA criteria they will assess you as a regular admit. Meaning you almost lose your “guarantee”. They never mention the word guarantee though.

That’s why I’m asking whether or not they put weight on your schedule or school.

@zettasyntax thanks for the input. I guess you just never know at this point. Although, the dean of admission advices us that transferring is way easier than coming from high school, we have lost hope since his last rejection. With a stellar portfolio and his counselor telling us he was a sure in, then getting rejected, really left us with the most pessimist point of view now.

@johnfuentesa You were supposed to file FAFSA and CSS Profile by the date that’s listed on their website for transfer applicants. They don’t use IDOC so you were also supposed to submit the materials they ask for in the financial aid application in your portal. If you haven’t submitted any of these, they can’t guarantee giving you any financial aid.

@SCtrojanlove I don’t believe they consider the difficulty of the school when applying. When I met with my counselor, they recommended that I go to community college because it will be easier to get the gpa.

I. NEED. TO. KNOW

I read it somewhere on USC’s website saying that they give more flexibility to applicants from other 4-year universities tho. They strictly expect applicants from community college to finish most of the requirements.

@malpais it’s true. My counselor told me that it would be fine if I didn’t complete the writing requirement and that they would wave it for me in the admissions process because my school doesn’t offer a writing requirement for freshman.
