2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@millaportman I’m not the friend haha! sorry wrong person! I’m applying to marshall for business! But you do look like a strong applicant! I wouldn’t give up yet. Most dornsife hear back starting in May.

@itslife123 do you have any idea when viterbi applicants start hearing back? have you read last year’s thread?

@alienman1234 I looked at threads even before 2016 (2014 and 2015). And what I see is that around May 20th is when Viterbi students start to get SGR’s and around this time the best applicants get accepted straight up. Those SGR’ed ending up having to wait till late June and even as far a July. It’s really dissapointing, but it is what it is. Hopefully, they might be faster this time around.

So we shouldn’t expect a major wave of acceptances untill the end of may ;(?
My friend got an SGR last year in April 28

@IwcWombat Yaa there are always different cases. For general cases, Viterbi always heard back latest. Marshall is always in early to mid may. And it makes sense, considering some people are hearing back already. And just to be clear, I hope I’m wrong! :’) because I want to hear back ASAP

Has any CCC student received a response from Marshall?

When does Dornislife hear usually? Everyone is such strong applicants! good luck!

did you guys who got accepted recieve an email update? or did you just check your portal constantly?

@cc2LAuniversity acceptances are never emailed, only SGRs are

You can find out your decision either through snail mail or portal. Usually mail will come first but it depends on where you live and sometimes (rarely) portal/finaid summary is just updated earlier

I’m gonna ask my best friend who got SGR’ed (Rejected) when he got it. I never thought to ask, stupid me. Will let my fellow Viterbi buddies know

@Transfer510 Dornsife will start hearing back any day now… but decisions come out in batches and not all at once… so some Dornsife people could literally hear back tomorrow while others won’t until late may. Theres no way of knowing… unfortunately :frowning:
BUT at least decisions have started to come out~ nearing the end of the wait! We can do this!

My friend got SGR’ed on May 28th :’(, meaning he had to wait even longer to even hear back, later to be rejected after sending grades.

@itslife123 damn that must’ve sucked

@alienman1234 Ya it’s because he got 2 B’s with 1 of them being a pre-req in his last semester and he was a sophomore applicant.

@pantafootball2 Yup, 64 units also happens to be the max number of units you can transfer in. USC wants you to complete the remaining 64 units for your degree at USC. I do believe schools like UCLA allow a bit more to transfer over, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with USC. I had a lot of transferable classes that didn’t transfer over (since I had 100 units and all) :stuck_out_tongue: It is also a bit weird how 60 units is a junior at so many other schools, but still a sophomore for USC.

@itslife123 Hah, how do you define best applicants? That sounds a little insulting to everybody that isn’t accepted this week, lol :stuck_out_tongue:

@Transfer510 Im sure you will be fine! I dont think they have finished Dornsife at all! Im surprised I heard this early!

@zettasyntax Actually i correct myself, he was taking Calc 2 and a Lab Based science. From past stats I’ve been keeping track of the gpa acceptances for Viterbi and it actually did average to like 3.73. For those lower than that, you definitely have a shot as long as you show constant improvement and are taking the right classes. For those with high gpa’s don’t slack on the last semester or it might cost you.

@SCtrojanlove No i have Graham. My GPA is 3.9

Got a SGR for Dornslife 3 days ago on the portal, hopefully things work out at the end

Does anyone know what GPA you have to maintain once your accepted, for the last semester? 3.5? 3.0?
