2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@alienman1234 Best for the last ;)! Just kidding, all the schools are great!

if only admissions knew how fast people would commit if they just admitted us earlier

@larue0712 yeah you’re not alone!!!
@pomeranian4rich wow i hope i get the decision soonn :((

@dvalenc7 I really want to commit, I got into UCLA today too which my parents are really pushing but I think my heart is already at USC lol.

When you already decided which teachers/classes to take for USC Fall 2017 and you aren’t even admitted yet. What am I doing with my life? :’)

Some of the schools got back to me yesterday. USC come on!!!

Got into ucla tonight… @zettasyntax looks like I’m going to be in your position this year hahaha

@lasloth That’s a GREAT achievement to get into both. You can’t go wrong with either one honestly. If you were majoring in business, USC would be the obvious choice. However, since you are a philosophy major, UCLA has a more reputable program than SC and it’s also significantly cheaper. Either way you will make the right choice and excel, best of luck

If my cumulative at the end of this year (my freshman year) is a 3.6 GPA and I’m applying as Economics to Dornsife, how good do you guys think my chances are? I have a couple GE’s done and prereqs except for Calc, just curious!

@nvz1997 No one here can really tell you because people with all different GPA’s get accepted and rejected. The only thing people can really say on here, is that you have a shot at getting in, but no one can say for sure what your chances are. Since you’ve done the best you can, the best you can do now is wait till your admissions decisions arrives.

who applied from community college?? I feel like the majority is

Usc!!! I got into LA but I still want you … please !!! Haha

Trading my UCLA acceptance for USC. Anyone want? xDDD

i would choose UCLA over USC anyday, its just that ucla doesnt accept first year transfers , but if i do get in USC def going.

Yeah I live near East LA but I didn’t get anything yet :frowning:

@Skepta actually they do accept first year transfers lol I’ve seen first year transfers get in because they have tons of ap credits that would add like 20 units + their first semester in cc (12+ units) and spring which will bring them to 60+ units.

why ucla over usc though?

Oh thats true, but either way I didnt have enough AP units to apply. UCLA over USC because: 1) UCLA is located literally in the middle of Beverly hills, the whole area is how I imagined paradise would look like, while USC in near south/central LA wich has one of the highest crime rates (not just in CA, but the nation), and overall grimy place, but the USC campus itself is dope. 2) UCLA has a MUCH better Comp sci program, even my USC friends would admit to this. 4) Social life is great, As a huge NBA/NCAA fan watching the bruins play would be a blast (they are actually good unlike the trojans and made it to elite 8 in march madeness lol). Plus every month they always have crazy concerts, for example last month the migos performed. 3) UCLA ranked number 1 dining past 5 years. I visited my friends and they eat like kings over there. lol most ppl in college go out to avoid dining hall food but for UCLA its the opposite, even compared to Beverly hills standards the food is amazing, I have heard from my friends that USC dining is mediocre at best. 4) Recruiting fairs at UCLA are insane, for example companies like goldman sachs and jane street dont even bother recruiting from non-ivy schools. They have exactly 3-4 exceptions stanford, uchig and Cal and UCLA. How ucla got in there i have no idea LOL. Finally the cost, however I do think the cost for USC is also worth, its jut that itl take longer to pay off. I would be happy with a degree from USC as well as it has it own benefits, (more research opportunities, more specialized clubs and overall prestigious in its own right).

@Skepta yes! I heard UCLA has the best food on campus LOL… making me have second thoughts because i love food.

@pantafootball2 I had such a bad time at my UCLA orientation, haha. Don’t know what went wrong. I technically would have had it easier (at least at the start) if I stuck with UCLA. My computer science courses were equivalents of CS31/CS32 (I believe that’s their intro C++ courses) whereas at USC I had to take the introductory C++ classes all over again (and yikes, were those cutthroat). I think I was mainly put off by the whole registration process compared to USC’s :\ I also didn’t care for all of the hills, lol :stuck_out_tongue: It’s a beautiful school though.

@pomeranian4rich Heck, the Panda Express on-campus doesn’t even have teriyaki chicken lol. That made me sad because that’s like my favorite entrée from there :stuck_out_tongue:

@darlenez Hi, I was accepted as a sociology major to USC last year. I had applied as anthro for my first choice and sociology as my second choice. I was terrified to apply as a linguistics major because I got rejected when I tried that at other schools (like UCLA) the previous year. Anyway, I was accepted for sociology even though I had just one major prep course for it completed. My transfer report said two other courses would count as equivalents, but I did not take them, so I found it quite weird because I had 4 major prep courses completed for anthro. Anyway, take that as maybe USC not always being strict with major pre-reqs or that they are just plain weird with some applicants :stuck_out_tongue: Is the course a sociology course? Or a math one?

USC has got better football, will have better basketball when Lonzo leaves, there’s a lot more culture in that part of LA, the Greek life doesn’t even compare, and the student body is mostly insanely proud to and happy to be there, in terms of academics–USC is smaller and has a much better alumni network whereas UCLA has like a million students (and they don’t have bus admin)… if I had a choice I’d go USC without even thinking twice
