For anyone that gets a decision soon, can you guys also post when you applied?
Son got in via portal today for fall. No mail yet. No financial aid -still in review.
Marshall TTP
3.5 GPA
Good luck to everyone!
@SCtrojanlove congrats!
How seriously is our alternate major taken into account by admissions? I applied for Political Science but my alternate major was history. Would be happy to study either to tell the truth. Do they strongly consider the alternate major?
This is my first time posting but I thought I’d write my stats to help future applicants
ACCEPTED - my acceptance came by the mail today but it hasn’t updated into the system yet
Applied: a couple days before 2/1 deadline
Major: philosophy, politics, and law
Pre-professional emphasis: pre-law
Current school: local cc
GPA: 3.8
Major GPA: 4.0
Extra credit: soooo many
PTK honor society
AGS honor society
Founded a club and I’m president of it
Club liaison of black collegians
Deans list since high school
Lots of volunteer since high school, including in Ethiopia
More but I can’t think of any
Essays: 9.5/10 or 10/10
I graduated high school a year early, so technically I’m supposed to be in my senior year right now. I started cc 1 year ago but I’ve taken so many units within that 1 year that it counts as 2 years and I’ll be getting my AA at the end of spring 2017
Accepted schools: UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, UC Irvine
Rejected schools: None
Pending schools: UC Berkeley, Georgetown, Columbia
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE
Wow ttp with a 3.5 gpa … definitely shows that Usc admissions is very unpredictable. Nothing is for sure guys!
@SCtrojanlove gratz to your son! feel free to post your son’s decision here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1978775-usc-fall-2017-transfer-students-stats-decisions-only.html
@cassidylynnn hey it sucks that you got rejected to ucla for econ :\ I honestly feel that if you’re taking lots of prereqs, like your calculus 2, during spring you have a higher chance of getting rejected. I was accepted to ucla for business economic and I completed all prereqs (acct, econ, calculus, and eng) and my GE requirements BEFORE spring which got me admitted despite my poorly last minute half assed didn’t proofread essay lol.
I think usc is more lenient about prereqs being taken during spring hence the reason why they have SGR(spring grade request) to see how well you do in spring before they make a decision. Even if you do get a 4.0 in spring the chance of being admitted depends on how many GE’s you’ve completed in relation to the amount of transferrable units you have.
I was rejected last year after submitting my sgr because I was taking acct, calculus 2, econ, eng 2, and chinese(got all A’s), but I barely had any GEs completed.
I believe this might have been discussed earlier but what is a ttp?
Seeing some discussion between the whole ucla vs USC … honestly all my research and hours was done on Usc but I have no idea about ucla other than the fact they’re one of the schools that gain the most applicants than any university in the nation(so that’s obviously good). I’m really set on USC because of the business program but I mean I’m open to ucla if it can be more beneficial to my future. For those business majors out there who got into ucla and are Marshall applicants… what do you guys think side by side comparison?
@philotransfer congratz! please post your decision here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1978775-usc-fall-2017-transfer-students-stats-decisions-only.html
You must be really smart to have graduated high school early and completed enough units in your 1st year at cc to be considered in junior standing! congratz!!!
Do you live near usc? I’m surprised that you got your letter before your portal is updated! And what is the date on your letter?
For those who received an acceptance via snail mail, was it a big packet or just an envelope?
@OCCtoUSC it should be a big white packet with the USC logo on it!
More like a freakin box, they might as well just wrap it in cardinal and gold and slap a ribbon on it
@pomeranian4rich @penntousc Cool! Can’t wait (I hope)!
Haha thanks!!
Yes, I do live near USC. In la actually. But the letter says 4/26/17, so everyone else should be recognized theirs soon. I know some others who have already received their packages.
Has anyone heard back from Annenberg yet? I’m getting nervous…
Still haven’t heard back from Marshall. GPA is 3.9 and i’m on TTP.
@SCtrojanlove awesome! I have a 3.57 so that makes me feel a little bit more hopeful… I’m not on the TPP but that still gives me hope!!!
@philotransfer omg congrats!!! glad to know I’m not the only 18 year old admitted transfer haha
@cooljon525 what are your stats?
