2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

still waiting to hear back…I’m not sure how much longer i can wait :frowning:

socal cc full time student (sophomore transfer)
4.0 applied to Marshall
completed all GE requirements including major requirements
LOR: one from my boss, one from a teacher at my cc, and one from a teacher at Marshall who I worked for over summer
EC: takes care of a child with autism, teaching him how to interact in social environments, to read, and to write; works full time as an Administrative Assistant for a Tax Firm

Me since I’m seeing people getting acceptances in the mail already

literally same

@bugajskj I agree. I grew up in LA and I really cannot stand the Brentwood area. It’s rife with snobbery/pretentiousness, you can’t even blink without getting a parking ticket there (which is the case with the Westside in general), it’s impossible to find affordable housing off campus, and the student teacher ratio is really nothing to brag about. Sitting in a hall with 500 other students sounds like a nightmare to me.

@USC2563 I also have Hillary as my counselor!

thanks guys for the feedback! Do any of you know weather USC takes into account your overall GPA or your transfer GPA?

@transfer201517 only transfer gpa, not overall.

@pomeranian4rich are you sure? I remember reading on the transfer planning guide that they take all your grades into your application process. They do view all your grades and application with a holistic approach.

Not sure if the answer to this is too obvious or not, but is everyone supposed to get a request for spring grades? It seems like a lot of people (at least on this thread) have a while ago. I did submit my transcripts from one of my colleges pretty late, so my admission decision may come a lot later than others, but is it a bad sign that I haven’t been asked for a spring grade quest? I have a 3.9 GPA and am in pretty good standing with my classes right now.

@darlenez based on my research from websites and usc admission videos (an hour long lol) I recall they only look at what’s transferrable.

@area21 it’s not necessarily bad. We will hear back within this week or next. Usually top applicants hear back around around this week. Most rejections aren’t sent out until Mid to late May, mostly late May.

That’s terrifying. Spoke to financial aid rep today for USC . She said we have until May 10th typically and they get out late responses from then until June 1st!

@pantafootball2
3.5 GPA coming from a fairly hard UC with most classes for his major
4.3 HS
4-5 on AP classes
With all his credit he should have been a junior
Dean of another USC school/major was surprised he didn’t get in form HS last year so he wrote a rec letter.

His counselor was super helpful - signing up classes etc. (calls emails)
And of course, I’m sure it helped that he was TTP. I made sure his app was flagged as such.
But you’re right you never know so although, everyone said not to worry. We were stressing out.

Does anyone know if your financial aid package is available by the time you get admitted? If not, how long do we have to wait? Need to have a decision before June 1st :frowning:

@pomeranian4rich I think its different for TTP. I had a meeting with my counselor and she told me just to take certain major classes such as economics and accounting and get over the gpa requirement. I didn’t include any recommendations from teachers or put any community service or volunteer work on my application. I have 36 quarter units at the moment. I will be a sophomore next year.

@jae2017 It’s usually available within 3-5 business days (maybe 2) if you made sure to submit and everything is in order. You find out rather soon after being admitted, but it’s not ready immediately when you get accepted.

.

@breenicport until may10th to give out all decisions/sgr? and late responses for low stats applicants?

@cooljon525 I’m sure you have a good chance because you’re on the TTP. Most ttp applicants I’ve seen get in for sure.

Not all decisions. She just said a lot of them are! My head was so flooded with questions I didn’t expand on it. I’m a little nervous because I have a low gpa, and my essay is boring /:
