2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

I got my SGR in the portal marked Saturday April 29! Regular Sophomore transfer.

@NorCalBred Like in the application status part?

im v curious to see what kinds of applicants receive(d) the transfer merit scholarships. ppl pls post ur stats in the stats thread lol

@Transfer510 In my portal, I’m expecting some letter in the mail I’m assuming since they mentioned special instructions enclosed, but I only see the front cover letter on the portal.

Hi guys Im new to this thread but I’m just wondering, since I’m applying as a sophomore transfer, is it a given that they will ask for my spring grades or what is the deal is they even are considering accepting me. Also how likely to students who get sgr’s get admitted? Thank guys!

@singhisking339 oooomg I go to De Anza too! Congrats!! USC requested my winter grades, which I actually sent one before it was even requested, they still haven’t received though… I got rejected by LA, and wait listed for Berk.

@NorCalBred Which school was it for?

I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for Dornsife…I said this last week, but here it is again: curse no post on sundays LMAO

@Shuisazn Price School of Public Policy!

Is it a bad sign or good sign to receive SGR?

@juliamay2020 I guess it’s both? I want a flat out acceptance, so receiving an SGR and needing to wait for another like, 1.5 months will be torture for me, but on the bright side, it’s not a rejection, and if you do well in your spring classes, you still have a decent chance of getting in!

@Kevinzzz through mail first lol I had no idea when on earth they were going to release it anyway.

@rawrrxboo I sent my winter grades less than 2 weeks ago and got a decision just 9 days after was kind of shocked. I REALLY wanted to go to berkeley had all my prereqs done and IGETC done b4 applying but they rejected me anyway lol

Does anyone know how low of a GPA you can have once you get a SGR and still get into Viterbi?

@eel314 They claim their average is a 3.7, but viterbi is obviously harder…I would say a 3.85+ would make it a guarantee and a 3.7 - 3.85 should also probably get you in b/c stem is hard.

@singhisking339 no I get the average GPA for accepted but what I’m asking is how shitty can you do your spring semester after getting a SGR and still get in?

@eel314 You probably can’t do poorly in your spring semester b/c it is your most recent grades and thus, it is hella important…maybe a 3.5 if you have a good excuse for why you did poorly and you didn’t take many prereqs during that semester or if you had a solid hs record. My condition of admission was that I had to have above a 3.5 for the Spring otherwise I would get rescinded…

Hey guys, if I’m applying for sophomore transfer, will they automatically ask to look at my spring grades or is their the possibility my fall grades are enough?

@Student7321 depends on your high school record.

USC hasn’t requested SGR for me yet (applied to Annenberg) but I did do a little worse this semester because I took such hard classes :(. Is this a total deal breaker?

@singhisking339 yeah makes sense. probably want to get a 4.0 then just to play it on the safe side.
