2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@singhisking339 Yeah…The wait is killing me…I hope I could hear back from them in the next week or two, lol

@Kevinzzz are you applying for Viterbi?

@eel314 No, I’m a Marshall Applicant

Has any Viterbi applicant received an SGR so far?

@InfiniteHH98 nope nobody has heard back yet from Viterbi. They usually start replying around mid May.

OH MY GOSH GUY!!! I just checked my portal, and I found out I got accepted into Marshall!!!
OH MY GOOOOOOOSH!!! I’ve been checking my mailbox every day the past one week, and I dreamt about being accpeted by USC multiple times!! It’s a dream come true!
Anyways, the letter is dated April 28, 2017. It’s weird that my portal got updated before I receive the physical mail.
I will post my detailed stats on later.
Wish you guys good luck and fight on!!!

@Kevinzzz congratz! xD please post your stats here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1978775-usc-fall-2017-transfer-students-stats-decisions-only-p1.html?new=1

@eel314 it actually doesn’t depend on your HS record–if you’re going to have 30 or more units completed by the end of the spring semester, they will not look at your HS grades or test scores. Practically all sophomore applicants who are not rejected at first receive an SGR, and there’s really no way out of it. It’s only be because there’s very little coursework to to fully evaluate us. The only way that anything from HS will come into play is if you will not have 30 or more transferable units completed by the end of the spring semester.

are financial aid summaries available for anyone yet?

I’m stressing out because it seems a lot of Marshall applicants have heard back already. Should I be worried if I haven’t heard anything from usc yet?

@MartyM I would not be worrying yet. We still have a month+ to hear back from them. Most of us haven’t heard anything yet. It sucks I know, but you’re definitely in the majority right now

@MartyM don’t feel bad, nor have I. It seems a select few of Marshall applicants have heard back. Not many are posting in large quantities. It seems like it’s slowly trickling in

@MartyM keep in mind that over 8,000 people apply to USC as transfers, the majority of them likely being Marshall… so no, you shouldn’t be worried because most, if not at least half, of all Marshall applicants have not heard back yet.

For anyone who thinks they should be worried about not having heard back yet, RELAX. The deadline is June 1st, you can be worried that you haven’t heard anything if you don’t receive any sort of decision by then. I see this question asked multiple times every day and I completely understand that the wait sucks, I’m frustrated myself, but there is a deadline for a reason. Some people will receive their decisions today and tomorrow, and some will receive them May 31st. There is nothing to worry about right now.

Those who are already accepted: do you have to send your final transcript?

@eel314 I definitely think Viterbi is quite difficult. One of the course producers for an intro course was a senior and he had a GPA of 3.4, so I don’t know if that means that a good chunk of their students aren’t able to maintain such high GPAs. And the ones that do are probably computers themselves, lol.

@thnzus yes, final transcript is requested

@Shuisazn @juliamay2020 Well my admissions counselor told me personally that the main reasons people get SGR’s are if their grades are inconsistent, they may be missing some pre-req’s, or they do not have enough presentable coursework.

Personally, I submitted my mid-term grades for Spring 2017 (I had a 3.93 GPA first semester, and 3.85 currently) and my admissions counselor told me that should be good enough to receive an admission decision. So I’ve been waiting for a decision, but I won’t be too upset if they ask for spring grades cuz I’ll probably have a 3.93-4.0 by the end of Spring

housing options not looking too good for transfers lol

@ejsutton2006 I think my stats are fine but man, you never know OTL I’ve finished most GE’s and major requirements with a 4.0 overall GPA so I’d be pretty bummed if they sent me a SGR ;;
