2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

Quick question to anyone who knows, I got my SGR online last week and I currently have a 3.86. It looks like I’m getting all A’s this semester except a C in my chemistry lab. If I’m applying for Neuroscience will that C really hurt my admission chances?

Hey guys, I’m stressing because I haven’t heard back from USC yet! I applied to Marshall and I am currently a first year at my California community college. I have a 4.0 and will have 33 units completed by the end of the semester. I have finished my math requirements and am currently taking the required English class. I have completed most of my GE’s, as well as macro/micro economics. I also have many extra curricular’s and well-written essays. The majority of all my family members have attended USC so I would be a legacy. I’m just really anxious because I haven’t received an SGR yet! Seems like a lot of Marshall applicants already have…

@singhisking339 whoa, I hope they receive my transcript soon. Honestly spent so much money on transcripts for USC LOL. Hopefully I get good news!

They just requested additional information for my financial aid… is that a good or bad sign or does it mean nothing lol?

@ngujo96 I recieved the same thing a while ago. I don’t think it means anything at all. Just that you’re actually missing documents. If they asked you for some benefit form I’ve heard that means you are likely admitted

@singhisking Are you taking a prereq right now? Because 3.5 conditions of acceptance probably implies that. @pomeranian4rich Didn’t get any conditions because he is a junior having finished all prereqs.

Posted my details on the stats thread (accepted to Dornsife), if anyone’s interested.

@ngujo96 It means nothing as far as admission is concerned. I got an e-mail requesting additional financial aid information on Saturday morning. My acceptance package arrived in the mail that afternoon.

@Amaryllis85 Hi! Congrats you must be ecstatic! I am still waiting for my decision for Dornsife as a psychology major and pre dental minor. Did your acceptance come in the mail or did your portal get updated first? If it came in the mail how did it look? Was it a yellow package or a white priority mail box? haha sorry for all the questions, im so nervous, my mailman literally knows my name now because I run up to him everyday lol. I hope to be notified soon :frowning:

@aileen33445533 I might have cried a little. Maybe.

My acceptance came in the mail (it’s a nice white box) before my portal was updated. There was about a two-day delay. Here’s hoping you get some good news this week!

thanks so much for your response! fingers crossed

Have you guys noticed the high tuition spike? Yikes, I think it may because of the need University Village. I heard there’s gonna be a Target and a Trader Joes. OMG, I wanna go, but at what cost! LOL

I submitted the “Noncustodial Parent Waiver / Appeal Form” and the “Third Party Letter Re: Noncustodial Parent” for two months ago, but I still have the “CSS Noncustodial Parent PROFILE Application” requirement in my financial aid application. Is there anyone else in the same situation as me?

@ccsy96 I did, but I called and they fixed it. So I would call financial aid ASAP!

Have a crossword handy when you call Financial Aid. I’ve been on hold for 20 minutes now.

Hey everyone. I talked to my admissions counselor today because I was asking about pre req courses and if they need to be direct course equivalents to USC. I finished all my pre req courses here last semester, but because I go to a 4 year university, our articulation agreement with USC is incomplete, so I enrolled in classes that have similar course descriptions as the ones at USC although I don’t know for sure if they are course equivalents to the ones at USC. Anyways, my counselor told me that they don’t look to see what courses are transferable or not until after you enroll. So he said that technically they won’t know if I completed all the pre reqs until after I’m accepted. For now, they just go off of what seems to be transferable in order to give me an admission decision. I hope this helps other people who may have similar questions that haven’t been answered yet!

@ccsy96 I’m calling right now to have that fixed. Most schools seem to be understanding with accepting it.

@ReallyDoubtful @ccsy96 let me know if they do fix it, because I called a few weeks ago and was told that it wouldn’t be fixed until I received admission. She said that since I haven’t been admitted yet, that’s not even something they’re looking at. Although that makes no sense, because if they requested my noncustodial parent profile application they must be looking at it, I just went along with it. Don’t want that to be the thing holding me up from receiving financial aid if I’m admitted lol.

My financial aid recently changed to this:
“Your financial aid application is currently in review. Please note: We will notify you during the review process if additional documents are required. Financial Aid Summaries for transfer students are usually available three to five business days after all required documents have been received.”

Does this signify anything? Thank you so much!

@jieunh My financial aid status has been like that since February. I think it just means that they have all the documents they need.
