2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

For anyone who has already been admitted, does the admission contract specifically say no grade lower than a “B”? Are you allowed to get a C grade on a course that is not a major pre-req? Thank you.

@AtoTransfer I actually want to know that too lol. My contract is very vague. It just says that my admission is contingent on the verification of my official records.

"Conditions of admission:

Please remember that your admission is contingent upon verification of official
academic records, satisfactory completion of course work, and avoidance of
academic and behavioral misconduct"

@YRNYRN I believe if they request an SGR then their decisions will be made by mid July

@itslife123 I am taking 2 GE classes for USC and mvc, so not really prereqs, but those classes are still important.

@eel314 lol my bad I replied to the wrong person, mixed one conversation with another

@pomeranian4rich Congrats on your admission! I was scrolling through last year’s thread and saw that you applied last year as well.

My friend who was admitted last fall got straight B’s for his last semester at JC. Have you tried calling your admission counselor and asking for more detailed guidelines? I’m so eager to hear back ):

And have you been able to view your Financial Aid Award Letter?

@AtoTransfer I’ll email her and see what her responses are.

Does the acceptance letter come in a big envelope? I saw some yellow in my mail box and got trolled by UCSD’s acceptance letter LOL

Anyone know what the average GPA for computer science transfers is for Viterbi? I’m at a 3.85 maybe a 3.90 haven’t checked. Wanna be a Trojan so bad!

Did anyone else get a message in their portal saying “Missing USC Application Materials”?

The message said “We have received your application for admission but wanted to let you know some items are still missing from your file. We have listed these items below:”

The thing is that there was no items listed below… I contacted them, and they said I had nothing missing, but it seemed strange to me.

This is hilarious and I just want to share, because I was definitely wrong.

My message for financial aid last year was this:
"Your financial aid application is currently in review.

Please note: We will notify you if additional documents are required throughout the review process.

Financial Aid Awards are usually available 3 - 5 business days after all required documents have been received."

and this year it is this:

“Your financial aid appliation is currently in review. Please note: We will notify you during the review process if additional documents are required. Financial Aid Summaries for transfer students are usually available three to five business days after all required documents have been received.”

so nothing has really changed. BUT USC admission spelled “application” wrong this year on their financial aid message.

Hey guys is the Price School selective? I’m asking for my friend who is also applying as a sophomore transfer. He has a 3.58 GPA and I think he’s missing one of the two pre-reqs for the school

Hey guys! It’s my first time posting here. I noticed that there are a lot of applicants applying from community colleges and getting accepted. I’m a bit nervous cause I’m coming from a CSU and I know cc’s get priority so what are my chances? I applied to Dornsife as a junior transfer and my current GPA is 3.5

Someone on Reddit said he was accepted to Viterbi for CS already. I don’t know if that’s true but it makes me so nervous now…
@elokinikole14 I am also from a CSU! The admission office said they don’t really give priority to CC students like what UCs do. They said there are more applicants from CCs so indeed more admitted students are from CCs. But they don’t see any obvious acceptance rate difference.

@malpais he is a freshman, if i’m not wrong

@alienman1234 no he posted in r/EngineeringStudents. He said he’s a transfer and trying to decide between UCSD and USC.

@elokinikole14 CCs don’t get priority, it really is more of a numbers/proportions thing like @malpais described.

None of us can super accurately chance you, but it really seems to be sort of dependent on how many courses you’ve completed that are equivalent to USC GE’s in relation to your GPA. If you’ve completed a good number, then you have a chance of admission. I remember at one of the numerous info sessions I attended they said they look for near completion of GEs in junior applicants, because they have less time at the school/need to focus on upper division classes if they get admitted.

Also, major prep if your major has equivalent courses!

Welcome to the thread!

In regards to my GE’s, they weren’t completed by the time I submitted the application. But by the end of this spring semester, I’m done with them all and I would have about 45 units completed. Idk if 45 units is a lot cause I was scrolling through the stats/decisions thread and most people have about 60 units so do you think they’ll send me an SGR?

@malpais can you give me a link?

edit: found it

3.0 HS GPA got rejected. Started CCC this year, did 20 units across two school for fall, 3 A’s, 3 B’s. 3 units in winter, a B, and currently 20 units across two schools again for spring. With the completion of this spring semester I would have finished every single GE they asked for, including the WRIT150 and even foreign language. I applied for aerospace at viterbi but I’m taking a pre req for engineering physics and calc 2 right now. Would I still get a SGR?? I would have 43 units by the end of the semester. All transferable.
