2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@malpais Link to the guy who said he got in CS as a Transfer? Maybe he was a freshman. To hear back from Viterbi at this early stage is highly unusual, unless that guy was the son of Bill Gates LOL

Just got an email with my financial aid even though the portal still says that my application is in review. I only got 13k in grant/aid so the remaining cost is like 51k… that’s still so expensive  USC is my dream school so even if I do get in and won’t be able to go I don’t know what to do

@abbysolo if I’m not mistaken I believe if you receive your financial aid package it’s a sign you have been admitted! Congratzzz

@abbysolo if you received your financial aid package, I’m about 99% sure you’ll receive your acceptance this week but it’s unfortunate that they didn’t give you very much

I just noticed that someone with that same ID is also in this thread. When I first saw it last night I didn’t know that. Here in this thread he said he was still waiting. Well.… that’s beyond my understanding. ( I applied for CECS tho)

@malpais Yes he’s still waiting on SC, just comparing SD to USC. Unfortunately we ain’t hearing back anytime soon. I reckon in two weeks or so, we’ll definitely start hearing back.

@itsme123 he said clearly that he was accepted to UCSD and USC. I would just say whatever he said is bs lol.

@malpais Oh yea just saw that LOL. Someone has some explaining to do lol.

@malpais How’s ur last semester going? I feel like almost every Viterbi applicant is gonna get SGR’ed and I’m pissing my pants lol

@itsme123 it’s the worst semester I’ve ever had since I can’t really focus on anything. I’m a junior transfer so I hope I won’t get SGR’ed. I am going to take some summer classes at my current school. If Viterbi accepts me in mid-July I can’t get any refund.

If you are taking a physics or math, you might get one. Altough I must say we aren’t the only ones struggling rn. Alot of other ppl are too.

I just submitted an enrollment deposit to Michigan yesterday in case I don’t get into USC. Ugh I just wish USC would get back to us sooner so I could know where I’m actually going in the fall :((

@cassidylynnn which department did you apply to?

Hey guys is the Price School selective? I’m asking for my friend who is also applying as a sophomore transfer. He has a 3.58 GPA and I think he’s missing one of the two pre-reqs for the school

@ejsutton2006 if it’s an important pre req it’s unlikely he would be able to get in, especially with a 3.58. If he’s got a lot of GE progress and the necessary math and english courses completed though, he would still have a chance. Don’t know too much about Price, just know that the 3 most important things for everyone to complete are GEs, math requirement(s), and english (writing) requirement.

I still have to submit a few documents for financial aid. I had to wait until my parents had everything completed so I can submit them. But if you submit the required documents late would that affect the amount of aid I would get?

@stahboy Dornsife

  • WGR received April 14th, submitted on the next day (April 15th). It was Calc 1
  • SGR received yesterday (Monday, May 1st). Probably because of Calc 2 in progress.

Marshall Applicant

  • Attended a 4-year university in 2011~2012 for one year, but dropped out with a very low GPA (2.5) and 4 or 5 W’s.
  • volunteered in the Korean Army (2 years) and worked for 1 year
  • Came back to California and went to a CC starting Fall 2015.
  • Straight A’s since then (total of 16 courses excluding 4 courses in progress).
  • Above avg. EC’s and work experience
  • GPA according to UC Irvine is 3.89.

Just trying not to lose hope, but I am happy with my acceptance to the UCI Business Admin. program. I will be aiming for all A’s in my current semester as well. I guess this means another 2 months of wait.

@buskev that is so weird cause Calc 2 isn’t even required for Marshall. Plus you have a lot of credits completed. Do you have the other pre-req classes completed already? Have you completed most of the USC GE requirements? I haven’t received anything yet, so I contacted my admission counselor yesterday and asked him why applicants receive SGR’s, and he said usually because they have a prereq course in progress, do not have enough credits or have a lot of W’s and/or inconsistent grades. Even though you have 4 or 5 W’s, that was so long ago. I don’t see how that would have a big effect on your admission decision. My GPA is a 3.85, so it is pretty similar to yours and I have completed 39 credits with 18 credits in progress for a total of 57 credits completed by the end of this semester.

@cassidylynnn for some schools calculus 2 is required for marshall. All of my friends who are taking calculus 2 right now have gotten their sgr.
