2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@pomeranian4rich you said a bunch of people you know have received SGRs and that they’re junior applicants? I thought a lot of sophomore applicants received SGRs at the end of April and beginning of May, but it seems like sophomores aren’t hearing back nearly as early as they did last year

@jae2017 I think Annenberg started hearing back around this week last year so it definitely makes sense!

Also just want to add that I applied in 2016 with no recommendation and didn’t get an email following up to ask for one. So maybe it’s a good sign? CROSSING FINGERS

@jae2017 Interesting! I wonder why they’d want a rec letter, I thought that they weren’t mandatory for any of the schools.

@penntousc Reasons why my junior friends are receiving sgr is because they are taking calculus 2, prereq for marshall, and I already finished calculus 2 last spring.

@penntousc you’re Annenberg too right?
@usc2563 haha I actually didn’t know about it, either. I just happened to have a rec letter. I looked at their website today though and it says this:

Transfer applicants must submit a recommendation from a college/ university instructor or your college academic advisor with the USC application (and a Statement of Intent, if applying to Journalism or Public Relations). Letters from high school teachers or counselors will not be accepted. Letters of recommendation can be submitted using the Instructor Evaluation form found in the Common Application.

@penntousc me too !! I am a regular applicant and this is the only school I applied to… The wait is killing me.

@greenpotatoe Just talked to Viterbi Student affairs. The lady told me supposedly Viterbi is not sending out any SGR’s and that all Viterbi undergrad transfer applicants will get their reply on May 31st regardless if they were accepted or rejected.

@jae2017 @penntousc is marshall, not annenberg lol

@usc2563 no, not at all, I think the same thing. A lot of the same questions are being asked over and over again. And that’s not a problem because this is what the form is for but it also makes it look like there are a lot more people on here. Poor people who will have to go through all these posts next year hahahaha

It’s weird though because it looked like results were starting faster this year but it has definitely slowed down. I will say though, that it looks like the right about of people have received SGRs but not a lot of people have gotten acceptances (at least on the thread) compared to last year’s threads.

@pomeranian4rich Oh gotcha. Thanks!

@pomeranian4rich @jae2017 however I’ve definitely considered the possibility of a switch to Annenberg… huge football guy and would love to work in that department for an NFL team or media company, but there’s a lot more room for financial growth and a higher probability of early success in business and entrepreneurship so I decided to stick with that

Got an SGR today. I’m a dornsife applicant with a 4.0 my fall semester. So scared now and unhappy I have to wait so long to know :frowning:

@aileen33445533 are you working on any major requirements in the spring? or are you taking most of your GEs in the spring?

Woah, woah, woah. For real? @cool786

@penntousc That’s totally true. But I work now in Finance and realized that I instead want to do something I’m passionate about.

@jae2017 yeah I’m not really interested in having a limited role as an advisor or accountant (of a corporation, those people are like worker bees), I’d more so be leaning towards business in the sports, entertainment, music, or tech industry… ideally I’d love to work for a good startup out of college despite the poor pay, because if it succeeds I’d already own a fair amount of shares and I’d feel great knowing I played a role in getting it off the ground… and even if it were to fail, it’s really really great work experience. Idk, hopefully I get in and I can figure out exactly it is that I want to do lol

@cool786 What do you mean, ofc people get SGR’s. And people hear back before 31st as well…

Does the STARS report trick still work, or is that a forbidden topic? lol

@penntousc I’m applying to psychology and I need up to level 3 of Spanish and I’m taking Spanish 3 this spring. All other requirements are completed. So I think that’s why
