2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

This is my first time posting on here, though I’m a long-time creeper. I’m applying to Annenberg (PR!) with JUST under 30 credits completed at a 4-year institution in Canada. Because I’m a U.S. citizen, I’m not “technically” an international applicant.
Brief(-ish) stats:
GPA: ~3.65 (?, this is an educated guess for both high school and college so far; we don’t really do letter grades here, only percentages)
GEs/Prereqs: I genuinely don’t know. A lot of GE-type courses weren’t available to me because the program I’m currently in is SUPER restrictive; I literally wasn’t allowed to take a math, and no writing classes are available at my school. I briefly explained this in my application. The more “general” classes I took were Intro courses for Psych, Social Psych, Sociology, and Criminology. I’m hoping GEs will be slightly less of a factor in my application, especially due to the fact that I have 27 credits.
ECs: volunteer work, supervisory role for music events in high school, class president (it sounds pretentious as heck, i know lol), nominee for a liberal arts award at my current college, and various performing arts things in hs

@gatsby22 true!! So hard!! But your stats look great too :slight_smile: The only thing keeping me sane is that I have UCLA as back up…

@UCtoUSC I don’t know how I was being rude by telling you to call and confirm what I told you, but ok.

Did anyone else apply for Drama?

@JuniorMet97 Did your portal change or you received a letter?

I already SIR’d to UCLA but you know if I get into USC and get enough fafsa my a** is on its way to SC’.

@dreamla what’s your major at ucla?
@SmokedHam lmao

I’m gonna apply to USC this winter for the 18-19 school year. If I have a 3.74 at the end of fall and every GE completed besides calc 2 do you think I stand a shot? Sorry I know this doesn’t belong here but people getting rejected or SGRs with gpas higher than mine is freaking me out lol

@usc2563 Hi! I’m a Dornsife applicant (psychology) and I haven’t heard a word since November. :frowning:

@sab002 No one can really answer that question. Every college is choosing individuals to create a class of different people. Sometimes people with 4.0 GPAs get reject while someone with a 3.4 might get accepted. Best of luck.

Ugh you’re right :frowning: it just seems like SO many people are applying to Marshall that it feels like the 3.7 average transfer gpa isn’t accurate lol… thank you for replying though!

@gatsby22, I was talking to a financial aid officer earlier, and I asked if I would receive my summary even before an admission decision was released. The officer seemed to make it clear that the financial aid office and the undergraduate admissions office work independently of one another, and said that they request information from all applicants. But, based on previous posts, it looks like everyone is getting something different… but I was thinking, it would seem like such a hassle to request all missing information from ALL applicants (regardless of acceptance or not), but who knows.

@jae2017 poli sci but I really want to change it to comm studies but I heard thats impossible but we never know. I pretty much have the prereqs done for that major and hopefully an impressive amount of Ec’s in the field to help but it is what it is, i’m super grateful.

@sab002 I feel your pain, I am going to be applying into Marshall for next fall and will most likely have all the GE’s done but with a 3.7-3.8 gpa and it really worries me! Especially since every admissions counselor I’ve spoken too haven’t been very helpful.

@usc2563 I’m a bio major applying to Dornsife as a sophomore! I haven’t heard back, but that’s probably because they’re waiting on some transcripts of mine (and my counselor hasn’t responded since two days ago…T_T)

They sent me an email asking for my missing transcripts on May 3rd so I kind of hope that they were looking at my application then? But you can never be sure

So no one heard back today? :frowning:

@itslife123 stalking the mailman currently

@itslife123 & @angeleno13, I keep texting my brother to check the mailbox whenever he gets home from school haha

@dreamla basically want the same as you, lol. I’m going to UCLA for Ling & Psych, but if I can go to USC for Comm I’ll go there cause that’s what I really want to do.

Literally staring outside my window for the mailman every single day lol
