@Amaryllis85 I’m on the 19th email as of right now :)) . Did you manage to activate your net USC ID?
how common is it for people to get accepted to their second major?
Does showing genuine interest in their second major make it more likely that they’ll be considered for their second if they don’t make the cut for their first choice major?
@dvalenc7 I did.
@itslife123 yeah i’m staying strong this last semester also it’s just been weighing down on me this past week because USC is my first choice. I just also need to learn to be patient lol.
@ngujo96 never had it! I always look at that option though just in case I see anything pop up lol.
Have you gotten your decision or a sgr? @IwcWombat
@jae2017 @ngujo96 @HappilyFoodie Thanks so much!
Accepted to Dornsife as a Sociology major! I received my acceptance letter on 5/4
@marcollege17 well they first consider your first choice of course, and if you don’t get accepted for that, they go onto your second choice. If you don’t get accepted for your second major either, then someone told me here that there is a chance that they accept you as “undeclared” ( if your application is good but it doesn’t meet all the requirements).
Undeclared means they see a potential in you for the school you want to get it, but you still have to take some classes at USC before declaring a major.
So if your application says a lot about your interest, don’t worry then. there is a good chance that you get accepted if they believe that you have the potential.
@gamjah Congrats!
What alternative schools do you guys have?
@SmokedHam UCSB and UCSD
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have been following the past few days and want to leave a comment in regards to all of this. I myself have applied to USC with a 3.91 GPA, Pre-Law major with secondary choice of Economics, Lists of EC’s and work experience, along with overseas work. To be honest, it seems to me that this waiting game for you guys has an excruciating amount of stress which is reasonable as you guys want to get in. I would like to mention a short story of some guys I know who applied last year and got in smoothly. 5 people, 3 Viterbi applicants and 2 Dornsife. Dornisfe friends got in the third week while the Viterbi friends got in 2-3 days before deadline. Out of the 5, only 2 agreed to go while the rest chose to decline offer of admission. Reason for not going was because of their financial situation to which they similarly said " No way in hell I am paying that much just for a bachelor’s when I can complete the same degree elsewhere for cheap." One of them also had a very heavy-handed response to the admissions by writing a letter stating how the school thought it was a top-notch, hotshot university by making people play the waiting game and after the applicants played the waiting game, the school proceeded to pump thousands of dollars out of them in their next 2 years. He also said many other things such as the school acting like royalty but the school being right in the middle of a hood. So now in regards to myself, if I do get accepted, there is a high probability (85%-90%) I will not attend. Its due to the financial situation because I am not willing to swim in debt for a bachelor’s degree while I could go to another university that costs a fraction and is just as good. I am also speculating that if I do get the package in the mail, I will put a return to sender note on the package and return it. And below that return to sender note will be another note saying “This package isn’t worth me paying you 50k per year”. Its just speculation. But nonetheless, Godspeed to all of you in your success and endeavors. May you all flourish in life because we all want to. If you don’t get in, don’t worry. There are other universities that will pave the way for you to succeed. Remember, acceptances go all the way into the final day! which is June 1st. Its too damn early to lose hope. I just wanted to show you as well that as you see your fellow dreamers wanting to get into USC there are others like me and my friends and those who I know, that will turn away and drift with the wind somewhere else. Good luck ladies and gentlemen.
@penntousc hey congrats on admission!!
Annenberg applicant here, I think I have a pretty strong chance getting in since I have my own sports television show, a website, a blog, I am sports editor at my current college, and I will be working with the Los Angeles Sparks this season to write and film with them. My grades are good, though my GPA isn’t the best right now since I’m only a freshman, but I have 90% A’s. Good luck to all the applicants who are waiting to hear back!
@penntousc Congrats! You’ve been liberated!
@dvalenc7
Wow, no. I keep getting spammed by the email every hour on the dot. And, each and every hour, I go and try to activate my ID and it says this: “Your account is not ready for activation. If you were recently added to the system, it may take time for your information to propagate to the required computing systems.”
I was starting to wonder if this was unique to only me, but thank you for sharing! I guess USC will fix the glitch on the weekdays.
@CaptainSeven Welcome, and thanks for the comment. I truly feel what you said, but I think we can’t really tell if a university is good or bad for someone, it all depends on that specific person. For example in my case, since my goal is to become a game developer in future, USC has the best game program, not only in U.S, but in world. Also, studying at USC, gives me the opportunity to be close to silicon valley and find my way in there. This all may seem magical dreams, but they can come true, and they come true with a price. I’m not a wealthy person at all, but I will wait on my financial aid package IF I get accepted, and my plan is to do whatever I can to stay in USC, since for me, it seems like a very good place to start this new chapter of my life. I think there should be a logical way to stay in that school without ending up in debt.
But I also know that not everyone have same plans, or not every major in USC is as good as their rank in game, but it all depends on each person. Even stanford can be a bad decision for someone, and be the best for the other. It just depends on what you wanna get out of that school, and what post-grad plans you have.
wish you the best
@SportsNerd24 you have an aaawesome application, good luck!
