Great. I had just calmed down and now I’m nervous all over again lol
@uscbabe1 you don’t need to have all of them completed. I know I had two of the mandatory ones left that have to be taken at USC, and then one left that I never completed. I too was a junior applicant. Personally, I find that a strong applicant possess these qualities (first being most important)
•High GPA
•All pre reqs completed with A’s
•High amount of units completed
•Have majority GE’s completed
•Full time student
•Level of Curriculum, JC or University? A good indicator if you’re ready for a university
•Essays (this can make or break you if they’re on the fence with you)
•Extracurricular/Work Experience
@cool786 Must be a struggle, E & M is tough. Good luck!! My Linear Algebra teacher is tough AF too.
@cool786 I currently commited to Irvine CS, so until USC accepts me and gives me good aid, I’m sticking with Irvine for now.
@itslife123 Irvine’s CS program is really good, considering it has its own CS and information sciences school, so your backup is pretty good.
I actually changed my major to CSE, so Irvine’s engineering isn’t that great. USC has an amazing engineering department.
Let’s still keep our hopes up for USC!
For those who are considering other schools besides USC, what’s the longest you guys are going to wait for financial aid to get back to you before SIR-ing to another school if you haven’t already?
With the deadline being June 1st for most UCs and having to get things such as housing and scholarship applications turned in on top of ordering transcripts, USC is really making things difficult.
This is the last week I’m going to wait before giving up and withdrawing my application since finals week is coming up at my CC. As good an opportunity it would be to attend SC, I don’t want to have to worry about all of this when most people I know have already SIR’d to other schools and have their things in order.
Curious to know what the rest of you guys are thinking.
@jonathaanv As long as it takes lol.
@jonathaanv You can always cancel your SIR, you just lose 250
@jonathaanv no offense but that is a concern I would like to have, because that’s a step up from where I am right now hahaha
Give them a little longer, I’m sure you’ll hear back with finaid by the end of the week (which is more than I can say for myself…) but you maybe able to get some of your money back some of the schools after you SIR, but even if you don’t, depending on what USC gives you, it might not matter but you definitely want to make sure you have a spot secured just in case USCs financial aid package for you is not ideal.
@mellyjune yeah I didn’t want to come off as being super demanding/entitled or anything (not saying you implied that of course), but it’s just been tough since I’m stuck in a position where I can’t make a decision so close to the deadline.
It sucks to check this thread everyday and see that so many people are still waiting to hear back and will have to wait more on top of that for their financial aid award letters. I honestly wish SC was more considerate with these kinds of things.
@jonathaanv ahhh I’m sorry if it came off a little harsh, I was just expressing my wish that I had gotten accepted already hahah but thank you for not taking it the wrong way, I appreciate that!
every step of this has been rough on all of us… honestly I try to understand them because they are sooo busy and they had all the freshman admits too but at the same time… they aren’t the only school that has transfers… most schools have already released their decisions…
also I’m low key thinking I got rejected since I haven’t heard back from Dornsife, but it seems like they are a little behind this year compared to previous years both on admitting people and also financial aid… at least that’s what I’m telling myself so that I don’t lose too much hope… but I’m definitely starting to become more realistic… ughhh reality sucks sometimes…
Congrats on getting into USC and I hope you get the package that allows you to attend! You never know, your portal may update tonight!
It’s ok though guys, just a little longer to wait! And if we get in, it’ll all be worth it!!! If not… it’s was a learning experience…?
Good luck to us all!!!
@jonathaanv Call USC and ask then when they will give the aid summary by.
@mellyjune This week is your week! I can feel it
@mellyjune im waiting on dornife too, not even an SGR so far
and for me its gnna be an SGR or rejection since im an incoming sophomore.
Is there a transfer day or anything??
@Skepta Not always the case, but most likely.
Hey guys, I was given an SGR and that is great, but i was reading in last years thread that some people were given SGR and before they could even submit their grades they were sent acceptance packages. Does anyone know why that is? I really hope that happens to me haha
@itslife123 bless you! That made me feel better hahaha I don’t know why but it made me smile haha
I sincerely wish the best for you too! Hopefully we’ll both be Trojans (soon!!!)
@Skepta I was super worried because no one had heard from Dornsife for awhile and there were several people who heard back on thursday so I think they are behind so don’t lose hope yet!!!
Do you guys think it’s worth doing the housing app? Or should I just look for somewhere off campus?
