2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@itslife123 junior

@bbzby I think you got SGR’ed because you are now taking some writing and physics class? Good luck!

I see. Are you taking any math classes rn? Taking math 13 rn lol.

@malpais yeah I guess. I hope it’s a good thing to get SGR’ed. @itslife123 I wanted to take MATH 15 but all sections were full so I couldn’t. I already took many math courses at my university in Turkey, so not taking any right now.

@JaytotheB Thank you for your service. Hoping for the best for you.

Hey, I was just wondering is it possible to apply to USC again your junior year (3rd year in college)? I feel that I’m a good candidate except for my GPA, which is about a 3.5 ish, (3.64 after current semester) because of a couple of C’s I got in my first semester. I know you have to complete 2 years at USC to get a degree, but could another year of using non-Ge’s to bring my GPA help? I already did most of mine Ge’s for marshall business admin within my first couple of years at SMC (junior college).

@TrojanTransfer89 Yeah of course! If I don’t get in this year I’m going to stay another year and re-apply. Everybody graduates at different rates :)>-

@itslife123 I wonder if USC catches onto the trend on the amount of struggle SMC transfers are having with the math department? They’re the reason why my GPA is more of a 3.5-3.7, instead of a 3.8-4.0

@TrojanTransfer89 They factor upward trend of grades into how they interpret the GPA.

just curious, if some1 gets an SGR, id assume if they get a 4.0 their spring quarter. They would pretty much get accepted right?

@usc4ever Nope! Depends on the classes they take and how relevant they are to USC’s GEs.

@TrojanTransfer89 They look at the course first then looks at the context within the insitution. USC is well aware of the notorious SMC math department. This is also another reason why students from 4 year insitutions get in with lower gpa’s because USC knows a 4 year insitution is in fact more difficult than CC courses. Good news is, SMC sends the most transfers, so that’s something to liven your hopes and spirits. Good luck!

@usc4ever Nothing is a guarantee with admissions. But atleast you know that by gettinga 4.0 you maximized your chances of acceptance.

@HarvardJones with my luck ill be the first to not get in hahaha

@Amaryllis85 thank you for your support. i hope great things for you as well

Good luck to all you guys for this upcoming week! I would expect some acceptances towards the end of the week, probably Dornsife and possibly Viterbi :o?

Hey everyone. I’ve been lurking for a while and I’m a soph applicant that just got an SGR. What are the chances of getting accepted after getting an SGR? (assuming I get a 4.0 for spring)

On second thought, now that I think really about it, I actually don’t mind if Viterbi is a little late giving me my decision because I’d like to at least take my last final before I absolutely lose my mind (which will happen whichever way this goes tbh) lool

Does anyone else think the admission process is a bit slower this year? Seems like last year more people at least got SGRs late April.

@malpais its almost impossible to transfer to a school in california from a cal state for some reason. If you are rejected from all schools you applied to, go to a community college then transfer from there
