@Shuisazn they accept language credit as elective credit and you would still have to test into the language at USC. It isn’t course to course equivalent credit.
@penntousc yeah I just applied for housing. I figured out that I can apply for housing even though I haven’t committed yet. It cost like $55 to send in the app. But I’m still a little bit stressed. My parents really don’t want me to live off campus unless it’s in the sorority house cause it’s a bad area but I’m gonna do whatever it takes cause I gotta live somewhere lol
@JaytotheB I think if you don’t get in after your 2nd or 3rd attempt at applying, they tell you that you can’t apply anymore. This is what one of my friends at a CSU told me, is this true if anybody else knows?
@cassidylynnn there’s an apartment called the lorenzo that many USC students live at and its not dangerous at all
If USC accepts a bunch of people who’ve already SIR’ed to another school, will they go back and give those spaces out to other applicants?
I am Korean-Candian, an international student and go to CSUMB. I am concerned about English proficiency since I only received 1300 on SAT. I took this test and also Toefl exam about 5 years ago. The SAT scores do not meet their requirement.
Can anyone help me? Will I most likely be rejected from USC?
I heard USC is a holistic school.
I have called them and emailed them, but I do not know what is going to happen.
@chingyangkao Yes many on the SGR list will get in but not all. All depends on space and how well you did your spring semester.
@Shuisazn i think thats the name of the game. A school like USC is so sought after that they don’t care for peoples stress levels. Thats why almost every other school gives all their decisions on one specific day
but i think it will be worth it at the end. Just have faith and thats why were all here to support each other.
@Wafflepiezz haha yeah I’m sure after a certain point you have to take the hint but whats the worst they’ll say? No. okay then you can never say you gave up trying. Also, if i don’t get my undergraduate degree ill apply to their graduate program hahaha
@itslife123 hahaha well I haven’t even received an SGR yet so I guess it’ll be game over
so no more SGRs will be sent out?
@Skepta I’m not sure. A few days ago, I checked my portal and there was an option to upload my grades and I thought it was an SGR, but I checked my email and nothing was there. A few hours later, that option just disappeared. I’d say anything could happen right now.
Has anyone heard from USC’s sociology department? My anxiety is literally rising each day
What the heck, Gateway Apartment ads are all over Facebook for me, and I’m not even admitted. Talk about teasing.
@malpais : Regarding your question about USC financial aid being consistent. Yes, as long as you or your parents/guardian (if you are still a dependent) do not have dramatic swings in income and/or networth then your financial aid will be consistent. Throughout my undergrad at USC (2012-15) I received the same (extremely generous) financial aid package. It would be adjusted every year (tuition would increase slightly by a few dollars and so would the financial aid).
Keep in mind that you have to fill out the CSS Profile every year for many private colleges. It goes into further detail about your income / networth than the FAFSA. USC did require that I send in verification of my parent’s and my income every year.
However, I received nearly a full ride to USC. They are generous with their financial aid, but it all depends on networth and income.
They do not bait-and-switch you. You will get the same financial aid package as long as you don’t suddenly become a millionaire over one semester.
Furthermore, USC’s financial aid office is actually staffed by pleasant workers. Any time I had an issue, I they would promptly help me out (granted this was in the off season, not during admissions). I recall one time that a scholarship of mine was frozen because of missing paperwork (I had forgotten to send in a verification). I freaked out because the semester was about to begin. I simply went on the USC Directory, looked up the director of the financial aid department, emailed her, and got a response within an hour from her. She assisted me in quickly removing the hold on my financial aid.
Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions. I am on this forum periodically because my best friend is waiting to hear back for his decision :).
@marcinekok thank you!!
So if I live off campus, will my financial aid award change? Cause I can’t really afford for it to change lol… I was told that the way financial aid is calculated at USC and at a lot of other schools is that it doesn’t matter if you’re living off campus in Greek housing or an apartment or whatever; the financial aid will be calculated just as if you were living in on-campus housing no matter what. And then if your financial aid award exceeds your cost of tuition, you receive a refund and then I can hopefully use that towards my books and housing etc. Plus, on their financial aid website it says that your financial aid is used to help pay for cost of attendance, which includes on- or off-campus housing, meal plan, books, tuition and some other fees. Also, I would like to think that they can’t expect all of us to live on campus given how full it is already. I just want to make sure I am understanding this all correctly!
Accepted!
