2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@uscdream19 I think they’re related? I’m not sure I haven’t stalked the old threads/been around for them like others on the forum.

@penntousc That’s alot of aid man! Everything is working out for you!

I was busy today and finally got a chance to check to see if my FAFSA updated. It did in fact update I think there was a small wave that were completed and sent out today via portal. Long story short, I didn’t get a single penny of financial aid. We were already expecting that outcome as my family makes +$150,000 net income not including an additional S corp. I will be financing either through home equity line of credit or USC credit union with cosigners. Don’t let that discourage you, work hard and it will pay off. It is a long time investment and you will be able to get tax benefits from accumulating the debt.

@Aurora7 Honestly I don’t think so. Maybe this Friday…

Hey guys, someone got rejected last year, submitted an appeal, and got accepted. I didn’t know it is possible to do that. Has anyone here tried the same thing after rejection?

@itslife123 believe it or not, this is legitimately the first time in my life that things have worked out lol, couldn’t be any more appreciative of this opportunity. Most definitely will make the most of it!

@Skepta haha I’ve had the exact same thought (but not with Kendrick specifically). Every time I see dates for an artist announced I’m like “WELL, WISH I KNEW WHERE I’D BE”

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

That’s all that post is because I can no longer put my thoughts into words.

ngl, the wait would suck so much more if this thread didnt exist.

For those of us who haven’t gotten SGR’d…
The good news: Two more weeks until the decision deadline!
The bad news: TWO. MORE. //WEEKS//. until the decision deadline!

Is it bad that I haven’t submitted a CSS profile for financial aid? I never really knew about it and I got an email saying to submit it but I got that email after the deadline already passed. Do you think this would affect the amount of aid I get?

I’m kinda really glad USC doesn’t do the whole waitlist thing (unless you count SGRs - which I don’t).

Idk @InTheNightSky95 I think SGR is kinda like a SEMI-Waitlist, because you can either be accepted or rejected from it. A good thing they have tho is Spring Admit, which is a blessing for those who made the cut but not for fall

@elokinikole14 Yes, not doing the CSS by the deadline can severely affect the aid you will get.

@elokinikole14 to back-up what @itslife123 said I was told the same by financial aid.

@itslife123 I guess I don’t think of it as a waitlist because it’s more of (from my interpretation, at least) a “we need more info before we can decide” vs. “well we’ll see what we can do for you if there’s space but there probs won’t be space so don’t hold your breath” lol.
And yeah, Spring Admit is nice. I’ll take it, haha. Spring might be better for me considering the whole housing situation.

I’d say an SGR really only turns into a waitlist if you haven’t made any or enough additional progress towards major or GE requirements during the spring semester, because that means they might not necessarily want to accept you right away, but might not want to deny you either, so they can decide to wait and see what others’ spring transcripts look like before making a decision, or they can just wait to see how many non-SGR admitted students enroll.

@InTheNightSky95 True. Did you also know that SGR acceptances also depend on how many people actually choose to commit. So In a way I see a correlation with a waitlist (sorta). But all that doesn’t matter because SGR is definitely a good thing.

@itslife123 True. Again, this is mostly based on my experiences with waitlists (where they don’t even bother to see how you do in the spring :(). And yeah, I guess they can be. I’ll take any response at this point lol. I’ve checked yousc so much recently that I was able to find and respond to a missing application info message before I even received the email, haha. That’s kinda sad actually.

I got a SGR last saturday! Marshall applicant and I’m taking math and writing requirements now. I’m so worried since I’m going to end up with two B’s in math classes (business calc and stat). Good luck guys
