Just got a SGR! Annenberg applicant. Also apparently tomorrow is a “really big day” for admissions so good luck everyone!
I spoke with Annenberg admissions earlier and they said the majority of the decisions will be coming out next week Soon!
Hmmm… After looking at last year’s thread more, I think found something that may put my app at a risk of being binned hahaha
I did 12 credits in my first semester (Fall) of college. Although I took 19 credits in the Spring to “make up” for that, I think my Fall semester may be my downfall
An applicant e-mailed her admission counselor asking for the specifics on her rejection, and the counselor stated it was because she didn’t have “enough” credits in one of her semesters.
@juliamay2020 what’s your major? Are you a junior or sophomore applicant?
@anyone who was accepted, how long after you received your admission package did your portal update? (assuming you live near LA/got the package first!) and can someone link me to the stats page?
i have my fingers crossed for the rest of you still waiting!!! stay positive and hang in there. everything will work out!
Hi guys! this is my first time posting on this forum, but I have been following it since the beginning of the year. I was just recently accepted as a transfer for this fall. However, I received no financial aid. Is there anyway I will be awarded an academic scholarship? (the ones we are automatically considered for) and if so, when will they send those?
Thank you so much! and good luck to everyone still waiting!

@AGoodFloridian what’s wrong with 12 credits?
@AGoodFloridian are you quarter?
I was just about to ask the same thing ^ haha where did you hear that? 12 is still considered full time

“Competitive applicants demonstrate consistent full-time academic coursework. This entails 14-16 units a semester for at least a year, preferably during the year in which the student is applying. […]”
This was an e-mail response given to an applicant who wasn’t offered admission. I’m not sure about USC, but most CC’s consider 12+ credits full time status (especially for federal financial aid).
@Sydmonn96 Definitely! I hope taking 12 credits wouldn’t have a negative impact, but I won’t stress it out too much. I’m taking 10 credits this summer (Gen Chem 2, with some programming classes because I might be a little crazy) so I have plenty of other things to dread over :))
edit: @itslife123 , I’m taking a normal semester schedule
@juliamay2020 is tmmrw a big day for all decisions or just annenberg?
guys heres an idea, if you want to call admissions about an estimate of when to hear back but dont wanna risk being viewed as impatient by them, just dont enter your application number in the keypad when prompted by the automatic message. This way ur basically anonymously asking them since without the id they have no idea who you are.
when will Viterbi applicants hear back? Also I’m in a quarter system, will I get a SGR after I submitted my winter grades? my spring grades will only be finalized late next month.
@AGoodFloridian I respect the counselor, but I think that’s complete bullcrap because most USC classes are 4 units and if you take 4 classes it comes to 16 units but at CC’s most classes are either 3 units or 5. So its not easy to hit 14-16.I’ve never had a 14 unit semester either. And I currently have 57 units total so Idk what they be talking bout. My friends all got in fine w/o taking 14-16 so I think we’re fine.
@AGoodFloridian I think when you hit under 12, it becomes an issue.
so its safe to say that the most important class for Viterbi applicants is Calc 2 right?
Hey guys, I was just asked for additional documents from financial aid, and was wondering if that’s a good sign or not?
@greenpotatoe That and the Writing requirement are the only things “required” for Viterbi. The rest is like 2 lab based science, but Idk how much they enforce it.
