@helloitsmeeee production
@ashurikko I don’t believe there is any kind of deadline, really. Especially when you take into account that there is really no set/standard way of how to appeal. I’d definitely say within the next week though. I attached my appeal as a word document, but pdf seems to be standard now. I double-checked with my counselor as well to ensure that he received my appeal and he replied. I really think people should appeal if they have the time and desire to do so. With how long the admissions counselors make us wait, I don’t see any harm in bugging them some more. There’s really nothing to lose and there have been some successful appeals here on CC, so some of you might be some of the lucky few. Granted, it’s going to be a very small number, but it would sure be happy news for those chosen few
Rejected SCA MAP ://
My counselor responded! In my appeal I talked about how I am taking an important major req in spring which I have an A in, and they want me to send spring grades :).
@Skepta You just gave me hope
I wrote my appeal, but first I asked my counselor what qualities I was missing in my application. Is this okay? I want to be sure what I say in my appeal goes against their argument.
also to those writing still writing the appeal, i dont know if this will help, but lenghts wise, mine was literally no longer than one short paragraph. It was a direct sent email (not a word document or pdf attachment)
Me waiting for my decision
@ashurikko That’s really dependent on the counselor. I asked mine why I was rejected and he wouldn’t tell me. Others have been able to get some information like “you weren’t enrolled full-time”, etc. Doesn’t hurt to ask.
@Skepta I was under the impression that our counselors don’t read the appeals, so your sounds like a special case. When I sent my appeal, my counselor said that he forwarded the email to the appropriate “appeal committee”. Was he just telling me anything to shut me up, lol?
@zettasyntax my counselor did mention that I would receiving more info from the appeal committee on submitting spring grades once my quarter ends. lol also I found my counselor on linkedin and apparently she does play an active role in reviewing applications from her region
@jdfinancialsec let’s not be so pessimistic on here. I understand you’re trying to be honest, but it is great to remain optimistic and levelheaded despite the circumstances. Be a Trojan, act with respect, dignity, and don’t mar our reputation by being a defeatist.
@zettasyntax You are a blessing, thank you so much for helping us
When is the appeal due? And how do you do it? I don’t see an option for an appeal?
USC asked me for more financial aid info on Friday, but I still haven’t heard anything decision-wise (sophomore applicant to SCA). This waiting game is so annoying, especially while I am not trying to get my hopes up through all this financial aid work!
@dvalenc7 well put.
Rejected–updated in portal today 5/28, letter dated 5/25
Applied to SCA Writing for Screen and Television
I’m not surprised by this. I am a very nontraditional student…did very poorly in college 2010-2012 (like 2.1, yes…that bad), then returned in 2015 and have maintained a 3.9 GPA. But, that still makes for a low cumulative GPA.
I thought maybe I had a shot because I had heard that USC looks at students holistically (especially majors within the arts), and I thought my portfolio was very strong–creative writing was looked at by two Harvard grads who agreed. But, I guess not quite what they were looking for. Best of luck to all of you! What a stressful experience. Even though it wasn’t the news I had hoped for, I’m just glad the wait is over and hope all of you won’t have to wait much longer!
Hello guy
This is Noon. I got accepted to USC Viterbi but I did not get enough aid to be able to attend the school. I am raising money to help me pay my tution. Please help me or share it. I appreciate your support. Thanks a lot

@Skepta did the same thing last night, i just sent a short email saying that im taking important major related coursework this semester and would like to show them in person and discuss further options as a transfer student or mail them out my grades and have them take another look, hoping for a reply soon
I personally knew 5 people from the last 3 years who got in after appealing, so it’s definitely not impossible. USC takes around 30-40 people from the appeal list. Listen it’s a long shot and I don’t want to get anyones hopes up but USC accepts more appeals than some schools accept transfer students!
Some tips I got told if I ever went through the appeal process:
-You only have one appeal chance so don’t squander it by sending nothing new about your application.
-The letter should have “new and compelling information not included in your original application.” It should be direct to the point, it can be a paragraph or a page the formatting doesn’t matter just attach it as a word document and send it to your counselor or send an email message.
-Your counselor will send your appeal to a committee that reviews them all.
-The new information doesn’t have to be spring courses or higher GPA it can be volunteering, new ECS, work, internship or even new leadership roles. The people I knew got in based on their spring grades and one guy got in because he had a very prestigious internship.
-There is no official deadline however I would try to get it in by the end of June.
Good luck! hopefully see some of you at orientation. =D>
its weird last year this wave of rejection didn’t seem to happen at this time. Do u guys think a wave of acceptances will hopefully come soon?
