Any CA residents who haven’t heard anything back yet?
@Skepta your counselor responded to you on a Sunday? That’s incredible. I emailed two admissions counselors I had been in contact with. One, I got a auto reply saying she was out the office until Tuesday, the other, nothing. I have finals this week at my CC and this rejection after recieving a SGR has really unnerved me (Not knowing if this was a clerical mistake).
Rejected. Annenberg applicant from California. Going to appeal.
Rejected! USC was my dream and top school. Grew up around it and my whole family pressured me into getting in. Nothing sucks more than this but at least I’m off to debate whether if I should go to Cal or LMU. Don’t give up guys. I didn’t have such a great GPA and I was admitted to so many universities. I honesty think my decisions came from a holistic approach. USC just wasn’t impressed I guess, but I’ll #fighton for my masters
@user98 I’m a Marshall applicant in Los Angeles (County) and I haven’t heard anything.
@izrobins Hmmm… maybe something will pop up in our portal tonight or the following days to come?
Was today also suppose to be the day where ALL rejections from ALL departments are sent out via portal? It seems that the majority of rejects are coming from SCA and Annenberg
@stahboy thank you… I wish you all the best at Cornell! It looks like both of us are staying where we started haha
We never really got a huge wave of acceptances this year but the wave of rejections was huge and really hit hard…
Has anyone else whose counselor is Natalie Guevara not heard back yet?
@izrobins in my experience, she’s responsive in a timely manner. Expect a response within few business days.
@darlenez that’s a bummer. Although you still have two great schools to choose from. Especially Cal, that is quite an accomplishment congrats! You can’t go wrong with either
@Skepta hoping for the best for you! Write a killer appeal, sounds like you have a good chance at successfully appealing.
Does anyone have Brice Grier as their counselor? The last time I sent him an email he didn’t respond. But I’m appealing and I need to make sure that he read my email.
@Roxy22 Bruce is pretty near impossible to get a hold of. What I would advise is calling his extension during business hours and telling him that you’re emailing, because otherwise your email might go unnoticed.
@dvalenc7 They’ve been optimistic enough and were soundly rejected. If they want to appeal then by all means they can, but I’ve seen firsthand how this just injects more false hope until the inevitable occurs… two months later. I would only recommend they appeal if they have an overly strong case and even then it’s still slim. Moreover, drop the pious shtick-- you look and sound utterly ridiculous. We go to USC, not Princeton.
@jdfinancialsec pious shtick? Never have I heard this nonsense… anyways in this thread we have all encouraged and supported each other throughout this journey, yet you have the audacity to bring along unnecessary negativity that NO ONE NEEDS. If you are by no means going to help or ATLEAST motivate anyone in this thread it would be very much appreciated if you would just read through the forum and keep your opinions to yourself
@jdfinancialsec At least he has more school spirit than you do, which is saying a lot considering he isn’t even attending yet. Just…please find something else to entertain you; maybe go on lolcow and see what you can do there.
Some spoiled kids will never cherish the opportunity they have. Please drop out if you really hate your school.(you can save a lot of money bro). A lot of applicants really want your spot at USC. Most of us know that USC could provide a better education than our current schools. If you don’t like it, don’t force yourself to stay there.
@darlenez Damn, I was really hoping you’d get in I hear Rakin Hall is a really tough counselor to have. If you even google his name, an old 2009 thread on College Confidential pops up about him being really difficult/strict and that he seems to reject a LOT of applicants. Sorry things didn’t work out. I was assigned a different counselor the next time I applied and I got - despite my grades being slightly worse and I even had a fresh W, so I really think the admissions counselor makes a difference. Cal and LMU are fantastic schools. I’d actually want to go to Cal for my graduate degree. They’re ranked a lot higher than USC in my field (linguistics)
(This is also why I wanted to say hello to him at commencement and say a few words…something like “hey, you didn’t expect to see me here did you?”).
Where is the love, support, and encouragement for one another?
@zettasyntax I gotta ask, what was it like having Will Ferrell as you’re commencement speaker?
