2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@transfer201517 She got back to me today. She told me that she can’t release information about why an applicant was rejected. As for the appeal, one page with new information that’s not on the application and e-mail it to her. That’s all she told me. Hope this helped!

My appeal is one page but it’s single spaced and times new roman. Is that too much? I just have a lot to say that could have affected my chances of admission.

Anybody who is appealing and has Hope Amaral as a counselor - she wants you to send the appeal as an attachment in an e-mail.

@ashurikko thanks for the update! When i emailed her i asked her if i could show her my spring grades since i think that it will affect my admission as i am doing really well is all my classes which most are major related, wondering why she hasnt got back to me yet:/ and i dont think length matters as long as say what you need to say to  wish you the best of luck

@ashurikko As long as its under 500 words.

I was accepted on 5/3 and submitted my deposit on 5/22. I checked my TCR and all it shows is my AP test under the transfer credit and none of my college courses. They all transfer according to the articulation agreement. I was wondering if maybe I have to send my final transcript in order for them to generate the rest of the report? I am still waiting for final grades to be posted

@cassidylynnn did you take any classes this semester/quarter? If so, submit your grades ASAP. I was accepted the same day as you and I barely got my report. I’m sure yours will be prepared soon.

wow I wonder what’s taking so long for my TCR if everyone else’s are coming in so quickly. Maybe it’s because I’m transferring from an out of state school on the quarter system? I was able to view my STARS report but it looked frighteningly incomplete… I also committed around April 30th or so

@dvalenc7 yeah I took 18 units this semester, but not all of my grades have been finalized cause the semester ended last Wednesday

@ashurikko Imo, I think double spaced would be better. I don’t think the counselors would want to read a massive part 2 of someone’s original application, if you were to be put into their shoes. And from what I’ve been told, they’d want us to be more logical in the appeal.

@cassidylynnn how many total units are you transferring over if you don’t mind me asking.
@pianorite I read somewhere in here that there’s only a few people working at the office that prepares the TCR report. That may account for the delay

@pianorite I’m on the quarter system and OOS as well so I think it will take longer for us compared to people coming from schools with articulation agreement. I did call the TCR office and the guy told me they were “overwhelmed” lol.

@arsenalforever :)) that’s not good. I agree with you, mine took longer than those who came from semester schools.

@dvalenc7 Thank you! I remember reading that on here, too. It would make sense.

@arsenalforever ah that makes sense. can I ask when you committed?

I still have a little over a week until the 3 week mark and I’m from a community college with an articulation agreement. Hopefully I get mine early in that window.

Everybody, I’m sorry for being so late on responding. Thank you @Roxy22 & @zettasyntax for your supportive messages.

I had jjust received a First-class letter from USC Admissions & Financial Aid. This is a rejection letter, am I correct?

If yes then that’s ok, I’ll confess that I missed the USC scholarships’ deadline and I realized that the school can turn out very expensive for me. One of my two Music advisors told me that I don’t have to go to USC to be a successful musician, but I feel like I’m letting down another Music advisor since he’s an SC alumni.

That’s ok though, because I talked to the Music Advisor who is an SC Alumni, and I am planning to apply to SC again for Grad School. Besides, I’ve accepted CSULB’s offer and I’m currently waiting to hear back from UCLA’s waitlist. Sorry for my long ramble, but again, thank you.

@dvalenc7 57. 61 though if I include my AP test credi

Hi everyone, I would like to first of all thank @Roxy22 and @zettasyntax for your support, you guys kept my positivity up.

I just received a First Class Mail from USC Admissions, is this a rejection letter?

If yes then that’s ok, I knew I wouldn’t make it with my 3.22 CSU GPA anyway, lol. I feel bad because I feel that I’m letting one of my two Music advisors because he’s an SC alumni. That’s alright though, because at least I’ve been accepted into CSULB and CSUN. I’m still waiting to hear back from UCLA’s waitlist, but I have accepted CSULB’s offer. My other Music advisor told me that it’s very competitive to get into Long Beach in both Admissions and into the Music major, and I agree because I’ve been rejected before by Long Beach back when I applied as a senior in high school.

I’ve learned that the 2nd time is a charm, and I believe that this will be the same when I apply for Grad School at USC’s Thornton School of Music. Thank you all again for this thread because it’s been helpful for me.

FYI guys i called admissions and all transfer merit scholarship notifications went out on friday.
4.0 and no scholarship :((

Hey everyone, so I forgot to mention this when all the rejections were rolling out, but I decided to withdraw my application after being accepted to Marshall.

I ultimately decided to SIR to UCLA and I hope that I am able to open up a spot for a deserving student who is appealing. This thread was awesome all year and I’m glad to have met so many through College Confidential. I wish you all the best in the future and hope that you kill it wherever fate takes you!
