2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@Roxy22 Somewhere around 20-30 people in 1000+ appeals

it’s hard for me to grade my own essays, but i think they were okay! I know my GPA isn’t very competitive, so right now I’m just trying to stay positive. What was your major? I’m also wondering how competitive my Biology major is, given I’ve seen plenty of 3.8-4.0s around here :expressionless:

For the people who already sent in appeals, was it emotional or just straight to the facts? Or a mixture of both?

@Skepta when you called the USC Office of Admissions did they ask you for your USC ID and did they let you know if your admission decision had been decided and or mailed?

@mersyno1 I’ve only seen one bio major accepted in this thread, and I’m also a bio major! There doesn’t seem to be a lot of us; there’s a lot more psychology/sociology majors I think

@ashurikko Mine was facts, I don’t think USC counselors want to hear any attempts at excuses or want to read another story.

I’m anxiously waiting for Financial Aid to give me my estimate…everything is decided by how much money they give me.

Bruce Grier just replied to my appeal saying that spring grades have to be submitted before they review your appeal!!

@Shuisazn Congratulations! It should say somewhere in your packet that all applicants are automatically considered for moving up the fall semester, but the actual number is quite small to even zero depending on how things are. In any case, freshmen have higher priority (I’ve no idea why) when it comes to changing semesters. Several pages back, I mentioned my crusade that ending with me mailing a letter to the USC prez’s house all in vain to get moved up. If that move didn’t get me noticed, it’s likely impossible for you to actively increase your odds. If it happens, they’ll let you know :-/

@zettasyntax Ooooh gotcha! Yeah, I read your post LOL It totally slipped my mind omg. I’ll message you with more questions!

@Shuisazn Where do you live?

@izrobins Near LA! About an hour and a half with traffic away from USC. According to USPS, the package was dropped off at 7:45 pm yesterday~

@Shuisazn Thanks for the info. I’m in Pasadena so I’ve been wondering if they drop it off in the morning if it’ll be delivered same day. Anyway, congrats!

does usc review your application by checking the articulation histories from your classes? Or is that done after u get accepted?

anyone have kenley turville as a counselor?

Just an update on the appeal process (for those who have been rejected, like myself): I emailed an appeal letter to my advisor on Sunday morning (we’re talking about 4:30am here, lol) and my advisor just responded saying that they’ve sent my letter off to a committee to review and decide upon.

While I am still not expecting anything huge to come from it, I just want y’all to know that it is NOT pointless to send an appeal if you truly have reason to believe that you have exceptional circumstances. (Note: mine was explaining my lack of GEs and discussing some mental health issues that I didn’t list in my application because I didn’t want that ~stigma~).

ETA: They said I should know via email by mid-June.

@baseballlover21 I do

.

How long are you guys making the appeal, are you using the whole 1 page length?

@haysunshine I totally feel you on that. I did the exact same thing. Fingers crossed for both of us! :slight_smile:
