2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

Does USC have any conditions for acceptance such as maintain a certain gpa or getting grades in classes . I’m asking this because I have bordline grade in my calc 2 class (not a pre-requisite)

@Skepta You’ll probably think what I did was either crazy or unwise, but I made mine an entire page in 8 point font! I seriously doubt they’ll even read it, so I wouldn’t suggest doing that, but I think you should definitely say whatever it is that you need to get across to them, and that’ll vary by person. Their limit is one page so I’d say if you happen to need an entire page, then go for it. Of course, a larger font size would likely be appreciated, unlike mine. LOL! Good luck!

@milaportman seems like you had a lot to say. My worry is that mine is too short and I need to make it longer. I’m mostly focusing on why seeing my spring grades would be beneficial.

@Skepta I’m sure they actually prefer short and succinct. I wouldn’t make it longer than necessary. Just stress the point of the importance of your spring grades. That’s a compelling reason in itself! But make sure you address anything that comes to mind that has changed since your application. You only have one chance at appeal so make sure you haven’t forgotten anything, be it a family situation, academics, clubs, jobs, internships, or even something considered an EC. I realize they don’t place much importance on EC’s but it may give them a better sense of who you are.

Yes, I had a lot of explaining to do! LOL.

I still haven’t submitted my appeal… is that bad? I just want to be sure I said everything I wanted to say

Man, I haven’t been on here for the last week or so and I was just reading about “appeals”, sorry to everyone who got denied. I tried to mention this earlier but it really isn’t the end of the world.

Just cause you didn’t get in doesn’t mean much. Just not the right fit right now. You can try again next year or go to another school and try to get into USC for graduate school or something.

Are any admitted students looking to get discounted season football tickets? On USC’s website it says that once we register for classes, they will email us a link if we want to purchase them ($200 for all home games). Does this work with transfer students?

Why are individuals saying on this thread the last day to SIR to USC for Spring admits is tonight? The deadline is August 1st as far as I know.

@dvalenc7 oh you know I’ll be in on that

What does USC mean by satisfactory grades within the conditions of admission section on the appplication

@Skepta Mine will be double spaced, one page, straight to the point. They don’t want to read another whole story from what I’ve been told.

@ashurikko Nah, my counselor told me to send her my appeal whenever my spring grades get posted (late June), so i def won’t be sending mine anytime soon #:-S

hello guys, Im new here. Im a sophomore applicant for Viterbi: computer science/ business administration. I got a SGR, how do i send in my spring grades to them?
And what are the chances of getting admitted if one does well in his/her spring courses?

Has anyone who appealed financial aid heard back yet?

@Warrior106 C or higher. It says Satisfactory completion so they’re looking for completion with atleast a C or higher. Not bad at all

Newly committed transfer! Anyone housing on-campus?

@Warrior106 I feel like if you get less than a B, they wouldn’t want to accept you, but idk. It depends on what they mean by satisfactory.

@itslife123 I would not feel comfortable that they would accept me if I got a C. You pretty much need all As to even be considered and then you turn in your final grades and some are C, I feel like that isn’t up to their definition of Satisfactory. I could be wrong, but I would be worried if I got a C that they would pull back the offer.

I didn’t have any specific conditions and wound up getting a W in a class. Some people have said a W is worse than a C. I guess it really depends on your counselor’s defintion of “satisfactory” like @tankle104 says. I think you’d have to really plummet in terms of grades/GPA for them to suddenly not want you anymore.

I think satisfactory definitely has to do with considering your overall GPA. If you were accepted with all A’s and have one C in your final grades, it’s sort of clear that the C is the outlier. So I’m pretty sure one C in that case isn’t rescind-worthy.

Also, I feel like a C not being acceptable is more applicable in cases where a student is given a GPA to maintain for the semester. Like clearly there’s a distinction between the more specific admission conditions and the more vague ones.

@kenz601 I’ve been able to get on campus, and I’ve seen quite a few others get housing as well! I’d definitely recommend it for the first year, up to you though!
