2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@itslife123 yeah it’s something I’ll have to consider, do you know exactly how much the fees are per semester?

@pianorite That is true. However, with things like the Pell Grant/Cal Grant, there is sometimes a surplus in which the university grant and say some of the Pell Grant have covered all of your tuition and fees. You can either have USC apply this to housing directly if you’re living on-campus, or instead state that you want the remaining aid deposited to your bank or in a check like @cassidylynnn said. I usually got something like ~4.5K as a refund and mainly used that for Uber since I was commuting and don’t know how to drive. I’ve spent a lot of money on Uber :expressionless:

@penntousc I heard It depends on the frat. For like the hot shot frats It can go as far as 5000+. This is what I hear from friends who rush.

Does anybody know how strict they are with the contingency of a 3.5 GPA? My current cumulative is a 3.91 but theres a possibility that I may get a 3.43 this quarter. Do you think they would take away my acceptance even though I will still have a cumulative GPA of a 3.77?

Does anyone know where exactly on the YOUSC page to submit the appeal letter? There’s nothing in the documents library that mentions appealing…

@itslife123 Oh ok, that’s pretty steep lol I’ll have to look into it more

It all depends on your experience. I would try it for the pledge semester at least and if you don’t like it just drop before you get initiated. You’ll still have to pay for the pledge semester but you won’t have to pay anymore after that. @penntousc

Does anyone know how long it takes to receive our financial aid package? Kinda worried about that right now… and did most people that have already received their package been happy with it?

Hey guys, do you know when financial aid packages are supposed to come out? I applied with fafsa and css before the deadline and I still don’t see anything in my account. It just says “application pending” but I was accepted so I am very confused.

@ParadoxicalFire i’m in the same boat right now too haha

@ngujo96 haha hopefully soon there will be more info! checking my portal nonstop until then :))

@ParadoxicalFire @ngujo96 In my experience, even though somewhere on USC’s website it mentioned “5-7” days from being admitted, it was more like 5-7 business days. I think I was admitted on a Monday and got my FA package on a Wednesday, so. But if it’s longer than that, I’d definitely call and ask about the delay.

@pianorite thanks for letting me know! I’ll call next week if I haven’t heard anything by then.

@ParadoxicalFire i’ve literally been refreshing every hour hahaha

@pianorite thanks!

@grace2622 Did you have a condition that explicitly stated a certain GPA to maintain? Unless it actually says you must have a 3.5 or higher, I think you’d be fine. They would definitely get worried if you went below 3.0 because that’s a pretty steep drop and in that case they may rescind you. Anyway, I think you’re good

@abelghit Pretty sure you have to email the appeal to your counselor. That’s what I did when I appealed way back when. USC doesn’t have an official appeal process for transfer students so it makes since that there would be nothing on youSC.

@ngujo96 @ParadoxicalFire I submitted my final financial aid documents on Friday (May 26), which only went through on Tuesday (because of Memorial weekend). I received my package on June 1st, so it took about 3 days. Their website says it should take 3-5 days but they might be really busy right now.

I just called my counselor (Guevara) and she told me that they’re still making a few final decisions and I should hear back “as soon as possible.” Not sure how to feel right now…

I think they are doing reviews right now because my portal says “None” under Required Documents and my status changed back to the original instead of “We have requested your spring grades…” Will we possibly hear back today?

@izrobins at least your counselor replies, mine is like a ghost lol. I think we should feel pretty confident as we didn’t get rejected yet, especially with the giant wave last week.

@MoriahDawn thanks for the headsup! I actually just called the financial aid office, it was strange because he kept putting me on hold… i’m not sure if there’s something wrong with my statement, but he definitely sounded surprised when he opened my account up lol… i was getting worried and he told me he would email the office for me (but didn’t tell me what he was going to email them about) lol
