2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@Skepta Good luck! I hope the process goes smoothly.

Has anyone sent in an appeal without their spring grades?

Since I’m from the east coast, I’ll most likely get a portal update before I get a physical mail decision, right?

I am hoping for a portal update tonight lol but I guess it’s a good thing we are still in the run…everyone please post if your portals are updated!

for those who have submitted their SGRs, did you submit your grades on your usc portal or the website given on the sheet usc sent to students for SGRs? usconnect.usc.edu does not work for me… thanks in advance!

For anyone who’s appealing - I just noticed on Kirk Brennan’s twitter (Associate Dean Director of Undergraduate Admissions) that someone asked him where they should send an appeal letter, and he said that they could write to him directly, and mail it to him at the address on your decision letter. Just thought I’d put that out there for those who are writing an appeal.

Has anyone who hasn’t gotten an SGR still not hear back yet?

The forum is so quiet now!

@dance11 I mailed my official transcript but paid to have it shipped in 2 days, and I emailed a PDF of my unofficial transcript to my counselor. I sent these both last Friday, then two days ago she emailed me back saying they received my transcript and today my portal reset to the first message of “We have received all documents…” instead of “We have requested your spring grades…”

Hey guys, are SGR’s a good thing or a bad thing? :-/

@usc2563 A lot of people do usually leave the forum once they get their decision. It’s understandable, but it would be really great if some of them stuck around and said hello every now and then - especially ones like the guy that got in on appeal that posted his stats on the 2015 transfer thread. I’m sure his advice would be useful to some right now, but he’s been inactive for over a year :-/

@usc2563 I’m just trying to get through my last semester. Next week is my last week, and I can finally celebrate my acceptance properly with all my other friends. The month of May was surely a hell of a month for us.

Hey guys! So i received my financial aid package via Yousc, and I got a generous amount. However, under the aid status is has all the grants, and loans with the yellow pending clock that says “check back later” does this mean my financial aid package may change or is it just for me to accept it?

@itslife123 I am also still waiting  I was hoping to have heard back tonight. I have a feeling there are still some others too.

@WinNer12 It’s not good nor bad. At the transfer seminar they said that nearly every freshman (incoming soph) receives an SGR because they want to have a fuller picture of academic standing/progress so they don’t have to predict how someone might preform at USC. Also, they may ask for an SGR for incoming juniors if you are taking major related or core classes that they feel are important.

@scallaw2 some incoming sophomores didn’t even get a SGR so I find it strange

@greenpotatoe For me, even though I’m sophomore status right now, I’m close enough to being junior status that they probably looked at my app as a junior applicant. Maybe some people are like that?

Does anyone know if the 64 credit cutoff is super strict? I’m thinking of possibly taking 3 classes next semester, but it might put me at 65 credits instead of 64 :o

@Shuisazn it sounds like you’ll probably be graduating at the end of a fall semester rather than spring, given your status… I think they do completely cut it off at 64 though

@penntousc Yup, unless I take summer classes? Which I’m thinking of doing so I can graduate on time, but not sure if I’ll be up for it LOL I’ll email my counselor about it just in case!

I can’t log into the housing application thing for some reason? Should I call housing on Mon?

@Shuisazn what does it says when you try to log in? And yeah I’d recommend summer courses, you’d only need to take 4 summer/winter classes over the course of the next 2 years to graduate on time so it’s not like you’d be crushed
