2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@kamyarzk it’s always possible but getting a 4.0 will definitely give you a good shot

@kamyarzk yeah you can still be rejected. I think you have a solid chance of being accepted, but dont bank on it.

I just want the answer. so tired of waiting. I’ve been able to forget bout acceptance into USC over the last couple weeks, but i am ready to know. Hopefully when I send in my grades, I will know sooner than later.

Does anyone know how long it took to hear after you send in spring grades? like how long it took others from last year to hear back normally?

Guys I send my counselor an appeal letter about a week ago and I haven’t heard back from her. Should I send her a follow up email??

@tankle104 I sent my spring grades in a month ago and still haven’t heard anything

i got a 3.95 last semester and I got a 3.85 this semester. is it likely that i will be accepted? i am soo scared and the waiting is killing me!

@srubien I am on the lower side so I think you have a good chance! I am an incoming sophomore with a 3.53 GPA overall so I’m worried but I also worked 40 hrs a week my freshman year of college and family conflicts that I dealt with / overcame. I sent an explanation when I emailed my counselor my spring grades last week since I was SGR’d, so I wonder if that may help a little but I cannot be sure until I receive a decision.

I just saw a comment on the USC admission blog where one of the counselors said that they typically don’t review the applications of SGR people until after most people’s grades are received, which is like mid-June. Y’all, I’m dying here.

I’m so frustrated…no admission decision from USC, no portal updates, I don’t know what to expect.

@mersyno1 I’m on the same boat as you, it’s so frustrating. whose your counselor?

Hi! I’ve been reading for a long time but haven’t posted. I was recently rejected as a sophomore for annenberg but sent an appeal because my counselor said that my AP scores didn’t go through on my PSU transcript and would’ve counted for GEs. She acted as if this was a valid reason for appeal and I was just wondering if anyone knew how important GEs really are. I have a cumulative 3.94 GPA from penn state and was rejected without a spring grade request.

@aivil123 VERY important… with the exception of GPA and the math/writing requirements (needed for admission in general) they are the most important, because they’d prefer you took most of your major related courses while in residence at USC. Sounds like you’ve got a very compelling case for appeal, good luck!

@Vesper7 my counselor is Rakin Hall, I’m attending East LA College, which falls under his jurisdiction. I guess he’s very busy with applications from the areas he’s assigned, since his email replies have come very slow, but I’ve seen one or two people on this thread from the same school who’ve already heard back, so I’m worried.

Thanks so much for your help! Do you know what the math requirement is exactly? I didn’t take a math course at penn state because I received a 4 on my AP statistics exam senior year and math isn’t really relevant to my intended major. I saw something about “intermediate algebra” but I’m wondering if that’s just a minimum rather than the actual requirement.

@aivil123 high school algebra 2 satisfies it, so I’m sure you’re fine!

Do you guys think my chances are competitive or slim? I’m an incoming sophomore applicant with 3.53 gpa overall coming from a four- year private University, I got a SGR early May and have already submitted grades. I stayed in touch with two counselors all of my first year of college, emailing back and forth. I submitted an explanation with my spring grades and both have been received, one of the counselors told me they were received on Wednesday. Any feedback helps!

@nvz1997 how’d you do in the spring? Your chances of admission are riding on that

@penntousc my GPA was lower unfortunately, Fall was 3.7, all A-'s, and Spring was 3.35 (3.53 overall), no C’s but I did get an A, A-, B, B-. This was also due to harder classes, working full-time, and new family commitments, which is why I included an explanation with my spring grades.

@nvz1997 oh ok, good luck!

@alpinyo if you look under your submitted documents, you should see that they have an appeal listed there. That means they have received your appeal.
