2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

So I just spoke to a woman on the phone who said they have mailed out my letter. I’m assuming it’s a rejection as financial aid hasn’t requested any documents and she said to watch for an update to my portal. I live half an hour from USC so if it was a priority mail acceptance package, it would be delivered well before my portal updated.

@pantafootball2 if I’m not mistaken I believe that @zettasyntax mentioned a few older applicants from past threads getting accepted into Marshall with a C in calc 1. Anyways in short I do agree that getting a C in calc as an SGR applicant doesn’t seem too hopefu in getting admitted.

@pianorite oh no…well we had to submit our fafsa and css profiles really late because there was a huge mistake on our 2015 tax return that the IRS had just discovered (something to do with stock money…but because the stocks were a gift from a long time ago they weren’t considered income and actually brought our income down) so maybe that’s why? i really hope it wasn’t because i had to file it late. I contacted their aid office and they told me to write a letter explaining why I was posting the tax forms so late but they didn’t say anything about it

How did you appeal? and what did you say in your appeal? I thought 28k was pretty good because that’s what their financial aid calculator had estimated for us but my tuition is still ridiculously high :confused:

@ejsutton2006 Approx how many business days did it take for USC to come up with your financial aid package from the point where you submitted all your required documents?

Does anyone know where to submit my syllabus for business 1a(financial accounting)? For some reason they need it to verify it meets there standards… @penntousc hoping you can chime in on this

@uscdream19 I would email it to your counselor.

Will the portal update without letting you know or will you get an email when they update your decision?

@usc2563 thanks will do

@squirtlesquirtle it took them a longgggg time. I submitted all my documents before the March Deadline.

@nvz1997 to this day I haven’t gotten an email from USC since I applied. I just randomly checked my portal.

Okay now I’m a bit worried, I just viewed my unofficial transcript and my grades are okay but I don’t think they’re as good. I have all A’s and one C+ (yikes, I know) looks like I’m headed towards a rejection :frowning:

I just looked at my submitted documents and it looks like there’s more duplicates of some of the items now, but this waiting is making me crazy so who knows. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since I submitted my spring grades

USC gave me very generous financial aid… $60,000 to be exact :slight_smile:

@lilego69 wow that’s a lot compared to what I’ve seen others get lately. Is it grant money or through loans? One thing I’m scared about if I get accepted is if I get horrible aid lol

@ejsutton2006 Did you get in or still waiting on a decision?

USC gave me really good financial aid too! I was surprised. I got around $63,000 including loans. With no loans it is around $53,000. I don’t think I’ve mentioned this on the forum before.

@usc2563 This makes me wish I’d applied for financial aid LOL

@lilego69 @usc2563
How long did it take for you guys to receive your financial aid package from the time you submitted all your documents? All my documents were just cleared last week. Wondering when Financial Aid will notify me. I’ve been hearing as little as 5-7 business days to anywhere around months…

@squirtlesquirtle I got it five days after my decision was sent. My documents had been clear for a month, though. The only request I had was the non-custodial waiver.

@penntousc I’m not sure, I’m guessing there’s a section on Oasis that allows you to do so, but if not you may need to ask your counselor. I didn’t take any accounting courses, just calc, writing, and GEs, all of which were listed on the articulation, so they didn’t need any syllabi from me.
