2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

July 14th orientation is full :frowning: (at least that’s what I’m assuming since it no longer shows as an option)

@InTheNightSky95 http://orientation.usc.edu/transfer/summer/dates-and-deadlines/

@Garciabusiness that’s interesting. From the link i got in the email/youSC , july 14th isn’t even an option.

Can someone accept my request into the usc transfer page? It’s been pending for a few days now…would like to see if there are potential roommates on there

@austlara you have to be accepted by the admin.

Do ppl get a SGR on a rolling basis? Cause I noticed ppl got it at different times.

Got admitted to USC for fall 2017 two days ago!! Fight on babe!! ~~~~

Is Calculus 1 a requirement for biology?

I still haven’t heard back and I received a SGR (I sent it on May 9). Is this normal?

I know most people have left this this thread but has anyone heard of someone getting accepted into Marshall without necessarily an A in Calc 1. A B+ or A- especially?

@ahhhhhomg I sent mine around the same time and haven’t heard back either. I don’t think very many SGR people have gotten final decisions.

@MakeItHappenUSC yes people have gotten in with Bs … Cs I’ve seen very rarely and those students usually retake the course and get the A.

@MakeItHappenUSC Yes, definitely. One of my favorite people on here got a C in business calc and he was very worried about not getting it - to a point that he was seriously considering withdrawing his application to end the agony of an SGR wait. He not only got in, he got in for the fall and it was mid-July! So this simple fact really makes me wonder what makes someone a spring admit vs. a fall admit because space certainly doesn’t seem to be a factor (I would imagine that Marshall would be “full” by that point). He was a non-trad student though, so I don’t know if that made any difference.

@zettasyntax wow I had no idea they would consider a C… even at my transfer info session the rep was telling us a C would lead to a rejection. But then again Usc always gives us those curve balls lol.

@pantafootball2 Yeah, it’s hard to tell with USC sometimes. I’m sure they have their own general guidelines, but I feel like every admissions counselor must have some power in how they interpret those rules - like how forgiving they are with grades after sending out an SGR. I heard rumors that my first admission counselor pretty much rejects anybody that doesn’t get all A’s after their SGR =\ but that’s only going by a handful of accounts.

hey all, I just wanted to let you guys know that I got rejected for admission about a week ago. I applied as a Sociology major. I honestly do not understand why, I finished all my GE’s with A’s, the writing requirement with A’s, and the math requirement with an A as well. I had a 4.0 the last 2 years at my CC, with a few W’s (none in transferable or major related courses before that due to employment issues. I don’t think it really hit me until today. is it worth it writing an appeal letter and to whom should I write it to? I saw somewhere on here that you could potentially write it to Kirk Breenan, I’m probably going to do that. to those who wrote/ are writing one, what are you including? I’m going to mention how I got a 4.0 for the Spring. any help would be appreciated, thanks. @zettasyntax @Skepta

@penntousc Do you know the process of getting a reasignment? I got Parkside, but I’m thinking Century right now cuz its cheaper there.

So I talked with housing and there’s a wait list of about 100 people to move into the dorms, meaning I’d have to live off campus. For all you folks living off campus, how do you make it affordable?

@zettasyntax Hey zetta! I’m a spring admit for 2018 and would like to know how winter orientation was for you! I know the website lays out the schedule, but hearing it from a student would probably be a lot more accurate LOL. Was there interactive activities with other transfers? How did housing work out for you? What about choosing classes?

If some people from my school have already heard back and were accepted, is that bad news for me? I’m so worried!
