2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

someone should start a fall 2018 thread. it’s super early but i’m so anxious to start working on my app!

Thank you @tankle104!

Does anyone know what the language placement tests are like?

@bettycrocker03 Hm interesting. I go to a semester based school and my deadline for SGR is June 30 too. Submitted mine so long ago I forgot when I even did it haha and still no response :frowning:

@bettycrocker03 that sucks, I don’t even go to a quarter system school. I guess they’re waiting to compare me to other applicants in my major. The waiting continues…

anyone know when the fall 2018 app opens?

@swg3hnna it should open on the Common App in early August

So the longer we wait for a decision, the less chance of getting in?

I submitted my spring grades last Friday and my counselor said I should receive an admission decision after the July 4th Holiday!

If you think about it, the fourth of July is next week so you know no one is going to be working most of next week. Odds are we will hear back the week after… closer to July 15. lol

For those of you who have been admitted to USC, which transfer housing seems to be the best option? Of course this may be subjective, but some factors may include: How new, how close it is to a DC, overall reputation of the dorm.

If anyone has any idea and may list out options for transfer students, the pros and cons of each dorm, or may link me to the right direction, will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I’m think I am. it’s the only class I ever really struggled with.

Typically how successful are financial aid appeals given changing circumstances?

Anybody with SGRs still looking for a place to live? I am looking for possibly two roommates I found a place 3beds 2baths one block from school with $2000 rent I am willing to pay more for the single bathroom like a 850/575/575 split I know we haven’t got in yet but I just want to put out feelers hmu

AND just a FYI they don’t look at any SGRs until June 30th so that’s why none of us early birds heard anything yet

@swaggyb22 Then how come some people who sent in their SGR’s got a decision?

Some SGR’s did get a decision really quickly, which is confusing. I think I’m gonna call them tomorrow and see what’s up because it would really suck to have to wait this long (I had to submit my app on December 1st) and then get rejected.

@greenpotatoe It depends. A fair number of people seem to be successful in getting a few thousand more, but nobody on here at least has reported a drastic change. If they’ve already offered to cover most if not all of your tuition, you’d be hard pressed to get a better deal than that. USC isn’t really in the habit of covering housing costs even with extreme circumstances. I sent letters of how my mom is constantly threatened with foreclosure notices for being late on the mortgage and how I racked up 25K in medical debt for a heart condition when I was uninsured, but that didn’t even get me a dollar more, lol :stuck_out_tongue:

what college was it i think marshall is earlier than the others

It definitely varies. I remember a Marshall applicant that didn’t hear back until mid-July, so he was really on the later end of the timeframe USC set for SGR people to hear back.

@katienewsom24 I definitely think you should call. Sure, they’re probably going to say they have no information/can’t tell you anything, but the fact that you’re calling helps in my opinion :stuck_out_tongue: It tells your counselor something like “hey, don’t forget about me; I’m still waiting”. I was accepted approximately three days after I called to complain. However, in my situation, I didn’t have an SGR; it was just past the original June 1st deadline and I was wondering what the problem was.
