2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

On edge. submitted my spring grades on 6/12 only to find out they were out the office until 6/16. I confirmed they received them and Ive been checking my mailbox everyday since. some people on here got SGR and have received decisions within a week of submitting grades, so I don’t know why some people are under the impression everyone is waiting until the 30th. That’s simply not true. Ive also been reading the thread and seeing stories about people getting F’s after being admitted, or failing a class AFTER a SGR and I can’t wrap my head around that. People are on here with near perfect grades and are ready to hang themselves from a shower rod because they won’t get in…some are given an amazing opportunity and squander it.

Just letting everyone know it took me a month to hear back after sending in my unofficial spring grade. It really just depends. Some hear back early some don’t. It doesn’t really mean much. still have hope

Hey! I’d like to transfer to USC as a sophomore transfer in 2018 to Health & Humanity major in Dornsife. Can anyone suggest what classes to take and the number of GEs I need to complete? I’m a freshman at a large 4 year university that follows the quarterly system!

@missice i’m in the same, though the university i will be attending is on a semester system. but go to this link; it will answer a lot of your questions. i’ve already been preparing for what classes i’m gonna take, credits, etc. also, look at the articulation agreement between your school and usc so you will know which courses will transfer over. if u plan to apply as an incoming sophomore and don’t want them to consider your high school stats, then you need to have 30 or more transferable units by the end of your freshman year. if you want to pm and talk about it some more, i will be more than welcome! i need someone else who’s in the same shoes as me honestly because this is gonna be a looongg process…anyways i hope this helped!

@katienewsom24 I’m in the same boat as you so please let me know what they say when you call!

Accepted into Marshall for Fall 2017! Was SGR’D on May 3 (because I had Honors Calculus 1 in progress). Portal updated today, letter is dated Monday June 26. I haven’t received the mail yet though so I’ll be looking out for a huge white box today.

@MakeItHappenUSC congrats! how long did it take for them to make a decision once you sent in your spring grades?

Thanks! Well my semester ended on Friday June 16th so I sent my grades in on that day. My counselor confirmed on Wednesday the 21st that he received the grades. I emailed him that Friday (the 23rd) to ask when I should be receiving a decision and he said over the next few weeks but then asked me about a class I decided not to finish which I thought was strange. Then today I checked my portal and my acceptance was dated on Monday. So I’d say it took him between a week and a week and a half after I sent them in.

Will classes like Calc 3 and physics be full if I go to orientation in August?

@MakeItHappenUSC did u get an email or just checked the portal?

@dogsAREsocool199 I just checked the portal.

@MakeItHappenUSC did you get all As in your spring semester

@pantafootball2 Technically yes. I got an A in Honors Cal 1 and Accounting 2. I was however part time this semester (only 8 credits) and did withdraw from 1 music class.

@MakeItHappenUSC oh wow you got a W in music class ? Did that raise any questions from them?

@pantafootball2 It actually didn’t because I reported it WAY before I sent my grades in. Literally right before I dropped the class I simply explained to my counselor that I decided to focus only on classes that would matriculate and asked whether not continuing the class would negatively impact me and he emailed me back that he completely understood and that I should be fine. That was in like March and he forgot while reviewing my grades and actually asked me about it last Friday and I reminded him about the conversation and after that he said I should be all set. My letter is dated the following Monday.

Posted my stats on the other page for anyone interested!

So after my appeal was rejected I e-mailed my counselor (Hope Amaral) asking if she could tell me what I should work on in case I wanted to try applying again next year (which is a lie, because this was my last chance) … her response was

“My biggest piece of advice for students who are looking to be a part of the Marshall School of Business is to complete and do well in the Calculus requirement. The Calculus requirement at Moorpark is MATH 16B or MATH 25A which can also be found on our articulation agreement with Moorpark College.”

However, the articulation agreement between Moorpark College and USC states that MATH 16A (the course I took and received a “B” in) is an approved business calculus class that will satisfy the requirement, which was what I told her in my e-mail response … I haven’t received a response from her yet, but for anyone who has her as a counselor, goes to Moorpark, and applied to Marshall as a transfer, and was rejected … maybe this news matters to you.

@MakeItHappenUSC oh wow makes sense I think I was in a very similar situation as you but I didn’t drop the class which was ceramics since I thought not being full time would reject me … ended up with a B in it (honestly thought it would be easy but it was very hard hahaha not that artistic) but now hearing about what you did I should have dropped it.

does anyone know how long it takes for our TCR to update? All that is on my TCR currently is one class and I know I have a lot of other classes that transfer. Are they still working on them?
