2017 Lehigh RD Applicants' Discussion Thread

I believe that was my post @momtobgb. I called admissions and they told me (for the bA MD PROGRAM) decisions would be finalized and admission/acceptance decisions would be mailed out on monday. I havent heard anythign yet

It was someone else who said their friend does work study in admissions, that letters were finished and mailed out on Friday??

someone just posted on another thread that they were accepted to the lehigh ba md program, so i assume only ba md came out

ED was posted around 4:45. Nothing on the portal yet, if we don’t get it by 5 I doubt they’re coming out today.

I understand that Lehigh likes to look at applications holistically and that it takes time, but this is really pushing it. I don’t know why they need a whole extra week more than they needed last year. Also, the whole guessing game is obnoxious. Especially when different admissions people tell you different things. I don’t understand why they can’t just give a day and time like every other school. It would make the waiting a whole lot easier.

At least it’s not like Northeastern…Man that was awful.

I agree @yankeesfanatic. At least with ivies, even though it’s late, they give you a date and time. We’re just left waiting and wondering which is awful. Northwestern was the worst I’ve had it so far. Emails that went out in four hour intervals, and letters that took upwards of an hour to load. People got their decisions at 6PM and I had until 11:00 for mine. and it was a rejection which just made everything a waste of time…

One would think that they should have already made their decisions over a week ago. They offered admission to students invited to the diversity weekend two weeks earlier than anticipated. It would be assumed that if they were able to come up with these decisions for some, why not for others. They don’t claim to have rolling admissions. So admitting some students earlier than others implies that they should have already made the decisions.

Hey guys, It is really nerve racking for all of us, but we have to understand that 1,000 more people applied this year than last year.

^ And? It would be hard to find a school that didn’t get an increased amount of applicants this year. And most of them have been handling it smoothly. What bothers me the most is the lack of communication from the admissions office.

Exactly. The wait wouldn’t be so bad if you knew the day you were waiting for. It’s like running a race with no end in sight. If you could just see the finish line, it would make completing it a lot more bearable.

Going on 6:15 and no news. I’m giving up for tonight.

You guys should look back at the EDI messages. We were pretty angst ridden as well and were only told mid december for a date and then it changed to the end of december… Turns out they were only 2 days later than predicted. I know the waiting is hard. We got notified via the portal before letters went out. Keep checking and good luck.

figured you would enjoy this.

Futuredoctor24: how do you know that 1000 more people applied than last year?

@bplusmom In an email they sent us, they stated that they received over 12,600 applications this year, which is about 1,000 more than last year. However, at this point, they should have all of their decisions made; I would assume that they would have all decisions made when they sent out the Diversity invites. It would only be fair that they read all of the applications before sending out acceptances, right?

Britsmum -

I remember those days all too well… Those 2 days after the 15th honestly felt like a month. I didn’t do any homework any of those nights either… Just relentless checking of the portal!

Thanks higuise. I am getting nervous for my son.

So far I’m 0 for 2 this week on college acceptances, so Lehigh’s basically my last bastion of hope (other than Cornell, but the two schools I got waitlisted from aren’t as selective as them…). And now I have to wait until Friday.
It would be nice if they sent out an e-mail when decisions were released, although I understand why they won’t. Their portal is terribly run, and probably couldn’t handle that much traffic. Almost always there’s something on there that doesn’t show.

I think by this time we all want this over. Stress is setting in for everyone.
